Exciting sports anime Blue Lock made its much-awaited comeback in Fall 2024, but viewers are expressing dissatisfaction over its animation quality.
Originally a popular Shonen manga centered on football, Blue Lock has successfully transitioned into a sought-after anime series. The name ‘Blue Lock’ originates from a unique strategy proposed by football legend Ego Jinpachi, with the goal of sculpting the best striker in the world.
The storyline follows Isagi, who enters an intense program under Ego’s mentorship in the second season. This season covers Chapters 109-151, featuring the showdown between Blue Lock and Japan’s U-20 team, and aims to wrap up the Third Selection Arc introduced in the earlier season.
After a lengthy wait of over a year, fans are now significantly let down by the animation quality.

Many fans are voicing their frustrations with the animation; some are humorously comparing it to a PowerPoint presentation. As one viewer remarked, “Shii feels like a Microsoft PowerPoint slide show.”
Another fan lamented, “Although it hardly moves, at least they ensured the still frames are appealing,” while a third added, “Honestly, I almost cried; the PowerPoint effects are wild. If I adored Blue Lock like that, I’d be devastated.”
Blue Lock Season 2 is set for a total of 14 episodes, but the first two have already faced scrutiny. Despite its aesthetically pleasing still frames, certain segments lack movement, which starkly contrasts with the fluid animations seen in the first season.
The series is produced by Studio 8bit, the same studio behind the hit Isekai anime, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.
