Critics quickly dismiss Juno in Overwatch 2 debut

After only a few hours since its release in Season 12, Overwatch 2’s Juno has already been deemed “useless”by the player community.

The commencement of Season 12 in Overwatch 2 has brought an abundance of new content to the game, such as a battle pass, additional cosmetics, the introduction of the support hero Juno, and various balance adjustments for the entire roster.

The first time players got to try out Juno was during Season 12, before her official release. Her hero abilities received high praise, with many comparing her to the well-designed support hero Ana from Overwatch 1, as players quickly developed a fondness for her.

Despite her main release receiving a lukewarm reception, the developers may have been disappointed by the lack of positive feedback. Despite early testing showing promise, many players now consider her kit to be inferior and “useless”in comparison to other heroes in the same role.

Streamer bogur, who streams Overwatch 2, was the first to voice their opinion on Twitter, stating “Juno feels useless & is somehow worse than LW.”They have a strong understanding of support, evident from their recent climb to Grandmaster as Mercy and previously as Lifeweaver.

Some also shared the streamer’s sentiment, pointing out that Juno’s design is too finely tuned, leaving her at a disadvantage compared to other support characters.

The issue lies in heroes such as Ana, Bap, Illari, Kiriko, and others who have been assigned to the same role. These heroes are designed for younger players and lack balance. As a result, Juno was never going to be able to match their capabilities.

“Although she is fairly balanced, the issue lies with the other supports being too powerful,”another chimed in.

After her first playtest, Juno’s health was decreased and the rate of fire for her Mediblaster was also reduced. However, to balance this, she was given buffs for her Pulsar Torpedoes, Hyper Ring, and Orbital Ray.

Despite some players feeling that the health nerfs were excessive for the hero, others expressed hope that she would receive buffs in the near future. They believed she should have remained untouched from her preview, as stated by some on social media such as ShakespeareFPS and dennko03.
