Crunchyroll Anime Awards: This popular anime was robbed of its victory according to fans

The Crunchyroll Anime Awards have finally revealed their results, and one series in particular has remained in the shadows, angering fans.

The Crunchyroll Anime Awards ceremony took place on March 2 in Tokyo, Japan, and was once again the occasion for many emotions on social networks. The event, which aims to reward the best series of the year, offered its winners in categories as numerous as they were varied.

One series in particular stood out during the ceremony: Jujutsu Kaisen. But inevitably, where there are winners, there must also be losers. Except that seeing their favorite anime remain in the shadows, some fans protested on social networks.

Season 2 of Vinland Saga is shunned at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards

This year, it was the major franchises that stood out during the awards ceremony: Attack on Titan had a finale which won the award for best drama and best original soundtrack, Demon Slayer left with the best animation, artistic direction and fantasy.

As for Jujutsu Kaisen, the series from the MAPPA studio is clearly the big premiere on the podium. The anime has indeed won 11 awards in total, some of which are among the most prestigious. We can thus note those for the best action, the opening and ending, the best production… but season 2 above all surpassed itself by recovering the title of anime of the year.

Faced with such a track record, the disappointment is great for fans of Vinland Saga. On social networks, many voices were raised to let it be known that the Viking series should, according to these spectators, have recovered some of the rewards reserved for Jujutsu Kaisen.

“The fact that Vinland Saga didn’t win any awards just proves that this is literally the worst anime awards of all time.”

“The biggest disappointment in this awards show is that Vinland Saga Season 2 didn’t win anything.”

The reactions may seem slightly exaggerated, but they highlight one criterion in particular: that of popularity, especially since the public also has a say in the choice of the winners. But another point should not be overlooked: the year 2023 was full of excellent series, and even the big franchises were able to maintain the efforts that had made them famous.

Even to the point of suffering consequences, as for the MAPPA studio and its working conditions for the animators of season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen.
