Crunchyroll is set to stream the anime adaptation of The Beginning After The End in 2025, a groundbreaking announcement made during New York Comic-Con 2024.
With the sixth season of The Beginning After The End ongoing, creator TurtleMe has confirmed that the highly anticipated anime series is on its way. This upcoming project is being produced by Slow Curve and A-Cat, marking a significant milestone as it becomes the first American webnovel and webcomic to be adapted into an anime.
Crunchyroll will be managing the global distribution, with the exception of select regions in Asia, in conjunction with Tapas, the original platform hosting the webnovel. Fans can look forward to the premiere of The Beginning After The End in 2025.
TurtleMe, who also serves as the executive producer for the anime, expressed excitement in a press release, stating, “When I began writing TBATE as a web novel years ago, I never thought it would evolve to this level.”
He continued, “This achievement wouldn’t be possible without the amazing support from fans throughout this journey. I eagerly anticipate celebrating the premiere next year with both devoted readers and new viewers alike.”
Mike Zhu, the Head of Comic and Film and TV at Tapas, commented: “This is an incredible opportunity that enables us to share the epic narrative of TBATE with audiences globally in a fresh format. This partnership marks a significant achievement for us and for webcomics created in the U.S., and we look forward to witnessing the enthusiasm it generates within our community and beyond.”
The rise in popularity of The Beginning After The End has been remarkable, with demands for an animated rendition increasing through its previous seasons. Keitaro Motonaga is at the helm as director, while character designs are being crafted by Masami Sueoka.
The story itself revolves around themes of reincarnation, featuring the formidable King Grey who is reborn as the humble Arthur, and gradually uncovers the significance of his new identity within a larger enigma. Since its debut in January 2017, it has become a cornerstone narrative on the Tapas platform.
