Tech titans Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg have exchanged words about a potential MMA showdown, but the match has yet to materialize. UFC President Dana White recently shed light on the reasons behind the stalled plans.
The prospect of an MMA face-off between the two billionaires first gained traction in June 2023. This came on the heels of Zuckerberg’s announcement of Threads, a competitor to Musk’s ventures. Musk provocatively tweeted his willingness to engage in a cage match with Zuckerberg, sparking excitement among fans and followers.
Zuckerberg responded quickly, inviting Musk to finalize a location for their bout. However, interest in the fight waned over time. In July 2024, Musk reignited the discussion, asserting his readiness to fight Zuckerberg under any circumstance.

Despite the buzz, the match remains unconfirmed. Dana White recently appeared on Tucker Carlson’s podcast, providing insights into the halted negotiations surrounding the fight.
Challenges in Negotiating the Musk-Zuckerberg Fight
White described his deep involvement in the discussions, noting, “The whole Elon versus Mark Zuckerberg fight thing… that was real, and I was in the middle of it. I had a blast doing the negotiations.” He recounted nightly conversations with both billionaires, demonstrating his enthusiasm for the potential event.

Despite the excitement, a consensus on the fight’s rules could not be reached. White explained the challenges in determining critical factors such as weight class and permissible actions during the match. Furthermore, he noted that negotiations with officials in Italy to host the event at the iconic Colosseum began promisingly but ultimately faltered.
Calls for the match haven’t been limited to the likes of White—the fight has garnered plenty of interest from celebrity figures. Notably, YouTuber Jake Paul has suggested that Musk and Zuckerberg face off for a staggering $100 million, pledging that all proceeds would support charitable causes. Yet, as of now, these grand plans remain unfulfilled.
As the anticipation builds around a possible match, only time will tell if Musk and Zuckerberg will settle their differences in the ring.
