Despite appearing in the first seven seasons of Dance Moms, Nia Sioux was noticeably absent from the reunion special that aired on Lifetime on May 1.
On May 1, a two-hour reunion special for the 8-season series Dance Moms was broadcasted on Lifetime. While many popular dancers such as JoJo Siwa, Kendall Vertes, Chloe Lukasiak, and others were present, fans couldn’t help but notice the absence of Nia Sioux.
Despite being asked multiple times, Nia finally addressed her 9.2M TikTok followers to explain why she chose not to attend the reunion with her former castmates.
Initially, Nia had no intention of explaining her absence because she wanted to avoid any potential drama. However, after multiple fans inquired about it, she felt compelled to provide an answer. Despite not wanting the added attention, Nia ended up receiving even more than she had anticipated by not giving any details.
Despite speculation from fans about whether it was due to her sorority commitments or college classes, Nia confidently stated, “The reason is simple – I just didn’t want to do it. It wouldn’t have been a problem, but I made the decision not to and that’s all there is to it.”

In spite of not being present at the reunion special, Nia felt the need to express her gratitude for being a part of Dance Moms. She acknowledged that the show was the driving force behind her wonderful life at present and genuinely loves it.
After that, she expressed her support for the former Dance Moms dancers who were present at the reunion. “I have a lot of love for the girls and I’m truly happy for them. It’s wonderful that they have the opportunity to share their feelings and experiences.”
Once Nia shared her side, her TikTok received overwhelming support from fans, garnering over 8 million views. One fan expressed their admiration, saying, “We love that she’s prioritizing her peace.”

Despite having appeared in the first seven seasons of Dance Moms, it is unlikely that Nia will make a return for any special related to the series. According to her own words, she decided to leave in order to pursue new opportunities and move on from the show.
