Dancing for the Devil: TikTok Dancer Speaks Out After Receiving Death Threats

7M TikTok dancer Miranda Derrick has recently addressed the controversy surrounding her appearance in the Netflix documentary “Dancing for the Devil.”She revealed that she and her family have received “death threats”from viewers, and she wanted to speak out about the issue.

Despite being released on Netflix just last month, the new true crime docu-series, which delves into the workings of the 7M talent management agency led by Los Angeles-based Shekinah Church pastor Robert Shinn, has consistently held a spot on the streaming service’s Top 10 chart.

According to ex-members, Shinn exercised dominance over his dancers by utilizing his business and the church to operate a cult.

Before joining 7M, Melanie and her sister were known as the Wilking Sisters TikTok dancing duo. In the film Dancing for the Devil, they appear with their parents to showcase their efforts in freeing Miranda from Shinn’s control.

Despite being married to fellow dancer James Derrick, also known as BDash, Miranda has utilized social media to refute the accusations and urge viewers to refrain from cyberbullying.

She shared a new video on TikTok and Instagram, revealing that she and James used to feel secure before the release of Dancing for the Devil. However, everything has shifted now. According to her, their safety has been jeopardized since the documentary was made public. She elaborated on this in a recent Instagram post.

Both of us have experienced being followed in our cars, receiving hate mail and death threats, and even being told to commit suicide through messages. We have also been stalked and warned that if we cross paths in public, someone will harm us and advised us to hire security.

“Additionally, there was a mention of someone threatening to forcefully place me in the trunk of their car if they see me walking on the sidewalk. These are just a few examples of the messages I have been receiving privately.”

Miranda proceeded to speak to her distant relatives, expressing, “I fail to comprehend why my parents and sister believed that this film would be beneficial for me or our familial bond.”

Over the past few years, she mentioned that they have been regularly meeting in an attempt to repair their relationship, which she has greatly enjoyed. However, due to their participation in Dancing for the Devil, it has become increasingly challenging to continue these efforts.

“It pains me to say that my parents and sister have been so consumed with their documentary that they have neglected our relationship. It hurts me to feel this way,”she expressed.

“To be completely truthful, it has been challenging to continue posting and creating content as if nothing has happened, because that is simply not the reality.”

“Although I may not be posting as frequently, please bear with me as things are moving a bit slower for me at the moment. However, I am determined to get through this and return to doing what I love, such as posting and dancing. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and I am excited to resume my passions.”

Miranda concluded by expressing her gratitude to all of the fans who have been supporting her since the release of her show on Netflix. She acknowledged the kind messages and assured her fans that their support does not go unnoticed.

Melanie gave an interview to Access Hollywood acknowledging the “risk”their relationship faced due to the docu-series nearly a week before her sister’s video was released.

After concluding the interview, she took the opportunity to address a statement Miranda had made earlier in which she referred to Dancing for the Devil as a “one-sided story,”sharing a message with her sister.

“Melanie insisted on her desire for her to watch the documentary, as it was clear from her statement that she had not already done so.”

“I would like her to witness it because it goes beyond our family. I urge you to educate yourself and understand that we deeply care for you.”
