Is there a trailer for Dandadan?

The anime Dandadan was announced to be in production in November 2023 with the release of its first trailer.

The Dandadan montage showcases a fast-paced compilation of the various events that viewers can anticipate. From peculiar extraterrestrials to zany spirits, our main characters encounter a variety of challenging scenarios. The flashy presentation is accompanied by a cool, electronica-inspired theme song, emphasizing the ambitious nature of this project for everyone involved.

Another preview was unveiled in March 2024, showcasing similar levels of kinetic energy and eccentric visuals.

The Dandadan Plot

Dandadan follows the story of two close friends from high school, Momo Ayase and Ken Takakura, who have opposing beliefs – Momo strongly believes in ghosts, while Ken firmly denies their existence but believes in aliens. In a friendly challenge, they both decide to visit locations where these phenomena have been reported, only to discover that both extraterrestrial beings and poltergeists do indeed exist.

As a result of their experiences, Momo gains telekinetic abilities, while Ken is able to transform into a demon alter-ego. They both decide to delve into the world of paranormal phenomena and UFOs, leading to a series of comical mishaps.

Who is making Dandadan?

Dandadan is produced by Science SARU, the team known for their work on Scott Pilgrim Takes Off and Devilman Crybaby. Fuga Yamashira, who has previously worked on multiple projects such as rock opera Inu-Oh and Devilman Crybaby in various capacities, is taking on the role of director for the first time for this show.

Hiroshi Seko is the screenwriter for Dandadan, but what’s even more thrilling is that the score will be created by Kensuke Ushio, known for his work on Inu-Oh. If you have watched Inu-Oh, then you can expect Dandadan to have equally memorable compositions.

Momo Ayase and Ken Takakura will be portrayed by Shion Wakayama and Natsuki Hanae in the upcoming Dandadan anime. Both actors have proven their talent in previous roles, with Shion appearing in Zom 100 and Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, and Natsuki being well-known for his portrayal of Tanjiro in Demon Slayer.

Considering the high level of anticipation for Dandadan, the names chosen for the lead roles are a promising start. Numerous characters, including students and family members, have minor roles, but none have been officially cast yet. We will continue to provide updates as they become available.

Where to Watch the Dandadan Anime

Once it is released, Dandadan will be available for streaming on both Crunchyroll and Netflix, depending on your location. This is not surprising as My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Demon Slayer are all currently available on both platforms. However, it is still uncertain which countries will have access to the show and when.

We anticipate that Crunchyroll will continue its trend of weekly simulcast releases for many highly anticipated anime, while Netflix will possibly release the entire season at a later date. However, this is just speculation – stay tuned for updates.
