Dandadan Manga Going on Extended Hiatus for Good Reason

Dandadan has recently announced a temporary hiatus in the manga’s release schedule, but it is for a noble purpose.

Since its debut in 2021, Dandadan has experienced exponential growth. With the anime show scheduled for release later this year, and the manga currently at 163 chapters and showing no signs of slowing down, our success continues to soar.

However, there is another aspect to consider: breaks. In Chapter 163, there was a dreaded one-month delay for the next instalment, but the creator, Yukinobu Tatsu, had a valid excuse for this.

Based on the mangaka’s statement, the hiatus is necessary for “conducting research.”As a result, there will not be a new chapter released in August. However, fans can look forward to the release of Dandadan Chapter 164 on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

The explanation remains logical if you take into account the main ideas. One side involves aliens while the other involves ghosts. These encounters have been on the rise in recent years, and it likely requires significant effort to keep them interesting at this stage.

There is always a possibility that Yukinobu has something significant that they also want to accomplish. After all, there is a scientific aspect to encounters with UFOs and spectral beings.

Regardless, a month-long hiatus is a significant break for a manga that is published weekly. Eiichiro Oda usually only takes a week off for One Piece, and the same goes for Jujutsu Kaisen. However, if the break is deemed necessary, then so be it. Keeping up with a weekly release schedule can be challenging, and Yukinobu also deserves time to rest.

The Dandadan anime will have its first public screening in September, as part of a theatrical event in which the first three episodes will be shown in various locations across the US. This screening will be preceded by a showing for attendees of Anime Expo 2024.

Virginia Glazer was present and described Dandadan’s first episode as “everything a manga-reader could want”. You can experience it for yourself when the show becomes available for streaming in October.
