Dark Kyogre will probably shake up everything in Pokémon Go

After the surprise announcement of Dark Kyogre’s arrival in Pokémon Go, impatient fans are already starting to prepare their teams, and there is a good chance that it will “get ahead” of the competition.

Niantic has just announced a new event in Pokémon Go, introducing big shakeups to Giovanni’s team, the Pokémon Go leader teams, and a new series of Dark Pokémon to face.

An important new feature is the arrival of Dark Kyogre, an even stronger form of Hoenn’s ocean guardian. Considering Kyogre was already a formidable opponent, his Dark form is shaping up to be nightmarish, and fans are already eager to use him in PvP.

Dark Kyogre could “get ahead” in Pokémon Go PvP battles

In a Reddit post shared by Pokémon Go player backstroker1991, he details potential uses for Dark Kyogre, as well as a brief guess on what buffing Dark Pokémon will do to Kyogre’s existing stats. For now, it appears to be a beast, ranking well above other Water-type Pokémon.

However, it’s not that simple, as one comment adds, “the Super BonbonXL is a problem.” This means that it will be difficult to obtain enough candies to train a Kyogre to the professional level. But difficult doesn’t mean impossible, and players already know that rare Pokémon like Rayquaza still work well at level 40.

One comment adds to the excitement, saying: “Wow, definitely time to use some cool Rocket Radars.” While another person said: “I’m going to use mine against Fire/Ground/Rock-type Rocket Minions, those stunts will hit like a truck.”

Not everyone is as enthusiastic, however, with one commenter noting the lack of utility for a single-type Water-type Pokémon, saying: “I struggle to think of a raid where I would actually want to use a Water-type. Primal Groudon if he ever comes back I guess?”

Finally, some players regret that their favorite Pokémon is lost in the fray, while a new champion pushes existing ‘mons down the rankings. One person puts it succinctly: “Nooooooooo Laggron.”

While we’re not entirely sure what effect Dark Kyogre will have on the competitive scene just yet, with these massive stats and the added boost to Dark Pokémon, Dark Kyogre is at least ready to make a big entrance.
