Darren Till Vows to Put an End to Influencer Boxing Following Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson Fight

Darren Till, a former UFC star, is known for speaking his mind. The mixed-martial-artist-turned-boxer recently demonstrated this by delivering some fiery words towards his upcoming opponent.

Till will have the opportunity to make his professional boxing debut in front of a global audience, as he is scheduled to fight during the highly-anticipated Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson Netflix event.

The challenger, hailing from Liverpool, England, will face off against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., a former WBC world middleweight champion and the offspring of the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., who held titles in three weight divisions.

Till stated in The MMA Hour interview that he was unexpectedly offered a spot on the July 20 card, but he had no hesitation in accepting the opportunity.

According to 30-year-old Ariel Helwani, the upcoming fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson is one of the most significant events of our generation. Both fighters have made a name for themselves, with Jake Paul being a massive star and Mike Tyson being considered one of the greatest to ever step into the ring.

“They approached me with the fight out of nowhere, and as a fighter, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity given the exposure this event will bring to any fighter.”

Despite the initial praise for Paul, the tone shifted as the interview progressed and Helwani inquired about Till’s goals in the boxing realm.

“I am confident that I will knock out Chavez Jr. in just two rounds. It is my goal to knock him out within the first two rounds of our fight.”

Afterwards, I plan to take on Jake Paul. If he is not able to fight, I am willing to face [Mike] Perry. I am open to fighting anyone. Dillon Danis has expressed interest in a fight, so I am ready to go, Dillon.

“I will put an end to influencer boxing when I defeat Julio Cesar Chavez. I am determined to end it all by knocking out each and every one of them.”

Till’s most recent professional bout was at UFC 282 against Dricus Du Plessis, the current middleweight champion. During the fight, the South African secured a victory through a vicious neck crank.

Despite being a professional boxer for two decades, Chavez Jr. has only competed in 61 bouts. However, his most recent fight was almost three years ago in December 2021, and he has suffered three defeats in his last six matches since his loss to Canelo Alvarez in 2017.

Till’s upcoming bout against Chavez Jr. presents a significant challenge from the very start, as the former UFC title contender prepares to face a formidable opponent – a fact that he is fully aware of.

“He is a former world champion and his father is a renowned icon. Therefore, it would be highly inappropriate for me to show him any disrespect.”

“As previously mentioned, my intention for coming in July is not simply to fill in the numbers. I am determined to put on a compelling performance for all those involved.”

The upcoming match will provide Chavez Jr. with an opportunity to increase his 53-6-2 boxing record, while Till will strive to make a strong debut in a new sport with a notable victory.

If that happens, Paul will need to remain vigilant. Till’s guarantee of putting an end to influencer boxing gains more credibility if he defeats a former world champion.
