DAY6 Makes History as the First K-pop Band in 11 Years to Achieve Perfect All-Kill Success

DAY6’s popularity in South Korea continues to soar as they made history by becoming the first K-pop band in the last decade to achieve a Perfect All-Kill (PAK) with their hit song, “HAPPY.”

On September 30th, the K-pop band DAY6 solidified their status in the South Korean music industry by taking the top spot on all major local music charts, including iChart, MelOn, Genie, Bugs, YouTube Music, Flo, and Vibe.

Securing the No. 1 position on these charts is a significant indicator of their popularity in Korea, as only prominent K-pop idols and acts have managed to achieve a PAK in 2024 so far, including IU, BIBI, (G)I-DLE, ILLIT, aespa, and others.

Among Korean rock bands, DAY6 has raised the bar as the first group to achieve this remarkable record in 11 years since Busker Busker did so in 2013. These two bands are the only ones in history to earn a PAK.

The song that propelled them to this achievement is the b-side track “HAPPY,”from their album “FOUREVER,”which was released in March this year.

Following a surge in popularity during the summer with “You Were Beautiful”and “Time of Our Life,”the track “HAPPY”belatedly went viral, leading to this new record.

The fact that DAY6 achieved this milestone six months after the song’s release and following a military break has earned them considerable praise from fans. It is quite rare for any music group, let alone a band, to receive such acclaim after a long hiatus.

Additionally, “HAPPY,”which surged to No. 1, claimed its first music show victory on the September 29th episode of SBS’s “Inkigayo,”where it won against another DAY6 track, “Welcome to the Show,”the title track of the same album.

To maintain their momentum, the quartet also released their 9th mini-album, “Band Aid,”on October 2nd, which is garnering attention as well.
