Despite the success of their previous tracks, “You Were Beautiful”and “Time of Our Life,”JYP’s band Day6 experienced a dip in popularity this summer.

Keeping up with their momentum, the quartet consisting of Sungjin, Young K, Wonpil, and Dowoon, returned with their 9th mini-album “Band Aid”on Sept. 2nd.

Just one day after its release, the song quickly climbed the domestic music charts, with their title track “Melt Down”achieving their first Real-Time All-Kill (RAK). The song reached the top spot on all major Korean charts, including Genie, Bugs, Vibe, MelOn’s Hot 100, and more.

To everyone’s surprise, Day6’s “Melt Down”claimed the top spot on the prominent Korean music chart Melon Top 100, surpassing aespa’s popular track “Supernova.”

The band made history by claiming the top spot on local music charts for the first time since their debut in 2015.

Day6 has joined the exclusive group of only 8 artists who have achieved RAK this year, including IU, BIBI, (G)I-DLE, ILLIT, ZICO feat. Jennie, and Lee Young Ji feat. D.O. so far.

In addition, “Band Aid”had all eight of its songs enter the MelOn Top 100, Genie, and Bugs charts, joining four previously released tracks including “Welcome to the Show,””Time of Our Life,””You’re Beautiful,”and “HAPPY.”

The “Melt Down”MV on YouTube Korea also demonstrated its strength by securing the third spot in the trending music chart.

Additionally, on September 2nd, “Band Aid”reached the 10th spot on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart and claimed the No. 1 spot on the iTunes Album Charts in 9 foreign regions, including Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. This further solidified Day6’s global reach and impact beyond their home country of South Korea.

Day6’s 9th mini-album “Band Aid”is a clever wordplay on the combination of “band,”representing a rock group, and “aid,”meaning “to assist.”

The four members, Sungjin, Young K, Wonpil, and Dowoon, collaborated in writing the lyrics and composing all of the songs. The lead single conveys the theme that “you”have the power to melt away feelings of despair and bring warmth to a freezing world. The track boasts a lively and upbeat melody, accompanied by heartwarming lyrics.

Following a successful launch with unprecedented achievements on its initial day of release, Day6 will carry on with their comeback activities and perform at Incheon Inspire Arena from September 20th to 22nd, marking the beginning of their third global tour, “FOREVER YOUNG.”
