Deadlock Game Players Discover New “Game-Breaking” Pause Exploit

Players of Deadlock have uncovered a potential game-winning exploit related to its pause feature, and they are calling for an immediate fix.

The mid-boss, an NPC enemy that rewards the powerful Rejuvenator buff upon defeat, is a key objective for both teams in the late game, crucial for breaking a stalemate.

Unlike League of Legends‘ Baron Nashor that grants buffs instantly, the Rejuvenator is designed as a physical pickup that takes several seconds to drop. This mechanic provides an opportunity for the opposing team to swoop in and secure the buff.

However, this counterplay becomes unfeasible when the in-match pause feature in Deadlock is misused. A clip shared on Reddit reveals that the Rejuvenator continues to descend even during a paused match.

Unsurprisingly, many users quickly urged the original poster to submit the clip through official channels to alert Valve as soon as possible. One response read, “Please report this on the forums ASAP instead of Reddit so I won’t face abusers in my games,” while others reflected on the issue as yet another reason why the pause system “needs some work.”

It’s hard to argue against that sentiment. There have been numerous reports of players exploiting the ability to pause since Valve officially recognized the existence of Deadlock. With player counts regularly reaching the tens of thousands, an increase in toxic players was undoubtedly expected.

As Deadlock remains in Closed Alpha, however, nothing is finalized, and players can expect these issues to be addressed as the game moves closer to its release.

Still unsure about which character to main in Deadlock?
