Deadlock Introduces Ranked Mode with Unique Restrictions

A ranked playlist is officially set to debut in Deadlock, but it may not function in the way you anticipate.

With the player base for Deadlock steadily growing on Steam, Valve’s not-so-secretive hero shooter MOBA has been generating significant buzz throughout 2024. As the game continues to attract attention, Valve is rolling out major updates to ensure the early access title keeps evolving.

New characters, map adjustments, mechanics, and more have already been introduced in previous updates, and now the introduction of Ranked play is on the horizon. This aspect will certainly cater to the competitive crowd, but there are some distinctive features when it comes to ranked matches in Deadlock.

How to Access Ranked Play in Deadlock

To get started in ranked mode in Deadlock, you’ll need to have completed a minimum of 50 unranked matches on your account. You won’t be able to queue for ranked games until you reach this milestone, so make sure you log those matches if you haven’t yet.

The ranked feature will officially launch on Tuesday, October 15, at 8 PM GMT.

However, ranked play will only be available during specific hours. Players can participate in ranked matches from 1-4 PM and 7-10 PM in their respective time zones, which means you won’t be able to play endlessly in pursuit of the highest rank in a single session.

Understanding Ranked Play in Deadlock: Rules and Limitations

In addition to the time restrictions, there are several distinctive elements to consider while playing ranked in Deadlock.

First off, Ranked mode is exclusively solo. Players cannot team up with a Duo, Trio, or full squad for ranked matches. This is the current guideline, but there’s no indication of when Valve might relax these parameters.

As you engage in Ranked matches, you will navigate through 11 rank tiers, each containing six levels. Be prepared for a considerable grind following your initial placement.

Your ranks will not fluctuate during gameplay; instead, updates occur weekly. Ranks will refresh every week at 8 PM GMT.

However, to see your rank updated, you’ll need to participate in at least seven ranked matches per week. Currently, there doesn’t seem to be any cap on the number of games at the higher tiers, allowing players to play as much as they want, provided they adhere to the available hours.
