Deadlock October 10 Update: New Ranked Mode, Extensive Hero & Item Adjustments

The patch for Deadlock on October 10 is impressively large, even by the game’s standards of substantial bi-weekly updates. Significant changes are on the horizon as the title approaches its exit from Alpha testing.

In addition to the usual roster of hero and item adjustments seen in the previous patch on September 26, this update introduces a ranked mode along with substantial improvements to game quality of life features, such as relocating teleporters and altering objectives like the mid-boss.

New Ranked Mode in Deadlock

A new ranked mode will be implemented, but players must fulfill several criteria to participate and advance in ranks. Additionally, ranking will reset on a weekly basis using a medal system. Here are the essentials of how the ranked system functions:

  • Players must have completed 50 games of Deadlock to enter the ranked queue.
  • This mode will only support solo queuing, operating during specific hours from 1-4 PM and 7-10 PM based on your local timezone, with slight adjustments available.
  • Medals will be awarded according to performance evaluated every Tuesday at 8 PM GMT, which means ranks won’t change after each game.
  • A minimum of 7 games must be played to establish your medal for the week.
  • The ranked mode will commence on Tuesday, October 15th.

Hero Adjustments

abrams-deadlock

Abrams

  • Base health decreased from 600 to 570.
  • Health regeneration per boon raised from 32 to 34, totaling 1048 compared to 1046.
  • Corrected sensitivity issues with shoulder charge that allowed excessive turning.
  • Seismic Impact now permits minimal movement to navigate around small barriers.

Bebop

  • Sticky Bomb growth ramped up from 2.5% to 4% for each stack.
  • Upon death, Sticky Bomb will now lose 2 stacks.
  • The maximum number of stacks for Sticky Bomb is now set at 15.
  • Hook range extended from 25m to 30m.
  • Hook now also instantly eliminates enemy troopers.
  • Fixed instances where the Hook could grab players behind cover.
  • Movement slow from Hyper Beam reduced from 30% to 25%.
  • The duration of Hyper Beam no longer scales with Spirit Power.
  • Hyper Beam’s active time increased from 8 seconds to 10 seconds.
  • Uppercut now inflicts a 15% Fire Rate slow within its landing zone for 5 seconds, scaling with Spirit Power.

Dynamo

  • Cooldown for Quantum Entanglement increased from 12.5 seconds to 15 seconds.
  • Quantum Entanglement T3 also now reduces cooldown by 4 seconds.
  • Corrected tooltip for Kinetic Pulse T2 to specify its effect on bullets, excluding melee damage.

Gray Talon

  • Arrow cycle time extended from 0.45 seconds to 0.55 seconds with total DPS unaffected.
  • Fixed issue with Rain of Arrows alternative cast causing a premature impact.
  • Resolved collision issues for Guided Owl with nearby objects during casting.
  • Fire Rate no longer synchronizes with Spirit Power.
  • Base damage of bullets now scales with Spirit Power.
  • Grace period for Guided Owl post-kill increased from 3 seconds to 4 seconds.
  • Updated grace period for Guided Owl to recognize a target’s death rather than requiring a kill.
  • Movement speed no longer scales with Spirit Power.
  • Base stamina enhanced from 3 to 4.

Haze

  • Max stacks for Fixation boosted from 30 to 40.
  • Fixation T3 bonus reduced from +0.2 to +0.15.
  • Bullet Dance no longer awards a +15% Fire Rate increase.
  • Base ability of Bullet Dance now provides 2 Targets Hit Per Shot.
  • Bullet Dance’s base ability no longer confers a +25% Evasion boost.
  • Bullet Dance T3 now provides +40% Evasion along with +2 Bullet Dance Speed.

Hell

  • Damage increase from Catalyst reduced from 25% to 20%.
  • Damage augmentation from Catalyst T3 increased from 15% to 20%.

Ivy

  • Updated the default camera position for better visibility.
  • Control keys for Take Flight adjusted to mirror Vindicta’s.
  • Resolved control issues with Take Flight near walls.

Lady Geist

  • Fixed an issue where certain units could suffer excessive damage from Essence Bomb when impacting multiple targets.
  • Life Drain can now be alternately cast on ally heroes.
  • Double tap protections added to Life Drain to prevent accidental cancellations.
  • Malice slow duration cut from 6 seconds to 4 seconds.
  • Malice amplification duration reduced from 16 seconds to 13 seconds.
  • Visibility of the number of Malice stacks on opponents has been implemented.

Lash

  • Base bullet damage decreased from 10 to 9.
  • Flog Heal against heroes decreased from 80% to 70%.
  • Flog Heal against creeps reduced from 30% to 25%.

McGinnis

  • +25% Spirit Resist has been removed.
  • Now features +15% Bullet Resist.
  • Mini Turrets T1 no longer provides an additional charge.
  • Duration of Mini Turrets reduced from 30 seconds to 24 seconds.
  • Cooldown for Mini Turrets shortened from 30 seconds to 24 seconds.
  • Scaling health for Mini Turrets adjusted from 30% to 20%.
  • Recharge time for Mini Turrets decreased from 5 seconds to 3 seconds.
  • Attack range for Mini Turrets increased from 15m to 20m.
  • Trooper/Neutral damage mitigation from Mini Turrets raised from -40% to -50%.
  • Damage reduction for objectives increased from -60% to -70%.
  • Fixed ricochet issues not functioning with Mini Turrets.
  • Spawn time for Mini Turrets reduced from 1 second to 0.25 seconds.
  • Attack delay for Mini Turrets decreased from 0.35 seconds to 0.2 seconds.

Mirage

  • Tornado now travels a distance based on range rather than duration (scales with increased range).
  • Subsequent Fire Scarab projectiles can pass through enemies already impacted by a prior scarab.
  • Base damage of Djinn’s Mark decreased from 16 to 12.
  • Scaling of Djinn’s Mark from spirit power increased from 0.4 to 0.55.
  • Reveal duration for Djinn’s Mark extended from 2 seconds to 3 seconds.
  • Traveler now causes the camera to shift towards the destination during the channel.
  • Traveler T1 now provides a speed bonus of +2 m/s (previously was a -20s cooldown).
  • Traveler T2 now has a -30s cooldown (previously was a +2 m/s boost).
  • Traveler T3 fire rate boosted from 20% to 30%.

Mo & Krill

  • Combo T1 now grants +30% Bullet Resist While Channeling (previously had a -28s cooldown).
  • Combo cooldown reduced from 95 seconds to 75 seconds.

Paradox

  • Bullet growth per boon elevated from 0.33 to 0.45.
  • Time Wall bullet duration diminished from 1 second to 0.7 seconds.
  • Fixed issue with Time Wall not deploying while looking downward during casting.
  • Cooldown for Paradoxical Swap increased from 48 seconds to 65 seconds.
  • Range for Paradoxical Swap reduced from 30m to 25m.
  • T1 for Paradoxical Swap now decreases cooldown by 15 seconds.
  • T3 for Paradoxical Swap raises range by 20m.
  • Radius of Pulse Grenade decreased from 7m to 6m.
  • Damage amplification per Pulse Grenade stack increased from 5% to 6%.
  • T3 for Pulse Grenade no longer boosts Damage Amplification by an additional 2%.
  • T3 now also increases the grenade radius by 1m for each pulse.

Pocket

  • Shotgun damage drop-off initiation range decreased from 22m to 16m.
  • Enchanter’s Satchel damage will now adhere to line-of-sight mechanics.
  • Enchanter’s Satchel will display an area of effect indicator while channeling for Pocket.
  • Affliction DPS Spirit Power scaling reduced from 0.4 to 0.34.
  • Barrage radius cut from 6.5m to 4.5m.
  • Barrage T3 now adds 2m to the radius.

Seven

  • Base regeneration raised from 1.5 to 3.
  • Movement speed scaling with Spirit Power reduced from 0.028 to 0.02.
  • Dash can now be utilized while in Storm Cloud for positional adjustment.
  • Lightning Ball T3 enhanced from +1m to +2m.

Shiv

  • Slice and Dice Spirit damage scaling increased from 1.2 to 1.3.
  • Slice and Dice T1’s improvement altered from -3.75 seconds to -4 seconds.
  • Decay rate on Rage reduced from 0.35 to 0.25.
  • Rage buffer duration increased from 7 seconds to 12 seconds (time it remains before it starts to decay).

Revenge

  • Recent changes to fall-off damage have been reversed.
  • Fall-off distance increased from 58m (default) to 64m.
  • Bullet damage growth per boon reduced from 0.79 to 0.55.
  • Flight duration will no longer scale with Spirit Power.
  • Flight T2 now extends flight duration by 6 seconds.
  • Bonus movement speed above base will now scale at 50% effectiveness.
  • Removal of -10% base bullet resistance.
  • Health growth per boon is now 15 instead of 20.
  • Gun cycle time increased from 0.22 to 0.26 seconds while maintaining overall DPS after recalculating these adjustments.
  • Stake duration shortened from 2 seconds to 1.75 seconds.
  • Shooting while airborne will have a similar speed impact as on land.
  • Flight acceleration in the air has been slightly decreased.
  • Crow Familiar’s damage percentage will no longer affect Mid Boss.

Viscous

  • Goo Ball’s hit effects will not activate while in Ethereal Shift.
  • Fixed issues preventing Superior Stamina from functioning correctly with Goo Ball.
  • Goo Ball stun duration reduced from 1 second to 0.7 seconds.
  • Splatter’s base damage lowered from 100 to 90.
  • Splatter T2 decreased from +70 to +60.
  • Spirit damage scaling for Splatter increased from 1.5 to 1.9.
  • Fixed an issue preventing Instant Cast from working with Puddle Punch.

Warden

  • Cooldown for Alchemical Flask has been reduced from 14 seconds to 12 seconds.
  • Damage from Alchemical Flask increased from 55 to 65.
  • Alchemical Flask T1 now provides an additional +1 Stamina Reduction.
  • Alchemical Flask T2 has been upgraded to +50 Damage.
  • Last Stand channel time cut from 2.2 seconds to 2 seconds.
  • Last Stand’s range augmented from 12m to 13m.

Wraith

  • Spirit scaling for Card Trick has been reduced from 1.2 to 1.1.
  • Card Trick generation from melee has been decreased by 50%.

Yamato

  • Cooldown for Power Slash increased from 8.5 seconds to 10.5 seconds.
  • Power Slash T2 now lowers cooldown by an additional 2 seconds.
  • Shadow Transformation no longer provides bullet and spirit resistance.
  • Duration of Shadow Transformation decreased from 4.5 seconds to 4 seconds.

Item Adjustments

Weapon Items

  • Monster Rounds:
    • Weapon damage against NPCs reduced from 35% to 30%.
  • Restorative Shot:
    • Weapon damage decreased from 8% to 7%.
  • Basic Magazine:
    • Ammo capacity increased from 24% to 26%.
  • Melee Charge:
    • Cooldown extended from 10.5 seconds to 16 seconds.
  • Long Range:
    • Ammo increase adjusted from 20% to 25%.
  • Tesla Bullets:
    • Spirit scaling increased from 0.13 to 0.16.
  • Alchemical Fire:
    • Now behaves like standard grenades, no longer bouncing off walls.
    • Base DPS raised from 45 to 55.
  • Toxic Bullets:
    • Buildup rate is now 15% slower.
  • Frenzy:
    • Low HP threshold elevated from 40% to 50%.
  • Ricochet:
    • Range reduced from 14m to 11m.
  • Silencer:
    • Spirit Power increased from 12 to 18.

    • Stamina recovery improved from 14% to 16%.
    • Fire Rate reduced from 7% to 6%.
    • Now provides +25 Health.

    • Duration shortened from 15 seconds to 12 seconds.
  • Refresher:
    • Cooldown increased from 212 seconds to 230 seconds.
  • Mystic Reverb:
    • Slow effect decreased from 50% to 40%.

Gameplay and Map Adjustments

  • The attack range of troopers against Lane Guardians has been reduced from 13.5m to 12m (bringing them closer).
  • Players must now be within 19m (above the ramp) to engage a Lane Guardian.
  • Guardians begin with a 70% damage resistance to troopers, diminishing by 10% each minute (maxing out at a 30% increase by 10 minutes).
  • Guardian damage inflicted on players has increased by 20%.
  • Medium Camps will now spawn after 5 minutes instead of 7 minutes.
  • Hard Camps spawn time is adjusted from 7 minutes to 8 minutes.
  • Teleporters will become operational after 8 minutes instead of the previous 10 minutes.
  • Trooper spawn/bounty lane end time is set to 8 minutes, down from 10 minutes.
  • Vaults will now spawn at 8 minutes and respawn every 4 minutes, as opposed to the previous 10/5 interval.
  • Golden Statues and Breakables now spawn after 2 minutes instead of 3 minutes.
  • Upgrades for Golden Statues will occur at 10 minutes, a reduction from 15 minutes.
  • Health buffs for Golden Statues have been increased from 15/20 to 20/30.
  • A new tier 3 upgrade for Golden Statues is now available at 25 minutes (+2.5% Fire Rate, +8% Ammo, 1.5% CD Reduction, +7% Weapon Damage, 40 Health, +5 Spirit Power).
  • The Mid Boss now has a regeneration rate of 15.
  • Rescaled creep buffs for the Mid Boss from 70% to 50/70/90% following its first, second, and third deaths (no further death augmentations)
  • Rejuvenation respawn rates for Mid Boss have been readjusted from 50% to 40/50/60% for the first three deaths (no additional increases).
  • Carrying the urn now reveals the runner on the minimap.
  • Heavy melee attacks on the urn runner will force them to drop the urn.
  • Delivering the urn now provides every team member with a permanent buff from a Golden Statue.
  • Urn bounty increased by 15%.
  • The urn now descends from the sky at a faster rate.
  • The comeback formula now gives less weight to overall team net worth and focuses more on the dying hero’s strength, regardless of their team’s lead.
  • The percentage of deniable orbs from objectives—Guardian/Walker/Patron/Shrines—has been rescaled from 54.55/66.67/100/0% to 35%.
  • Shields will no longer mitigate or be depleted by NPC units (Troopers, Bosses, etc., but will still sustain damage from player-summoned units).
  • All heroes have seen a 0.3 boost in movement speed (though Enduring Speed has been reduced by 0.3).
  • Bullet and Spirit Lifesteal will now stack with diminishing returns.
  • Teleporters will provide an additional +3 m/s for 5 seconds after reaching the destination.
  • Teleporters have undergone relocation:
    • Teleporters have been repositioned to connect outer lane Walkers.
    • Additional teleporters have been added to the underground tunnels.
    • Connections for underground teleporters have been adjusted to link the Subway and Tunnel on the same map side.
  • Stairs leading from Shrines to the player spawn area have been widened.
  • A ledge has been added to assist players in climbing back to the spawn area from the pit.
  • Added a bridge and stairs to improve access to the upper levels of the Subway Entrance building from the outer lane Walker arenas.
  • New upper-level connection within the Subway Entrance building has been established.
  • Guardians have been slightly moved further back from stairs leading down to the canal.
  • Channels surrounding the Mid Temple have been slightly widened.
  • Archways between Mid Temple channels have also been widened.
  • In Garage and Night Club: Ropes have been modified to transport players to the second floor, and back stairs have been restored to access the roof.

General Enhancements

  • A new third casting mode, Quick Cast, has been introduced (this mode shows range, radius, etc. upon key down and functions like Instant Cast on key release). The available casting modes are now Instant Cast, Quick Cast, and Confirm Cast.
  • Added input buffering for ability usage (if an ability is cast and another is triggered rapidly during the first’s casting phase, the latter will activate rather than get ignored).
  • Custom Build IDs are now displayed in the description section within the build browser, allowing players to copy and share specific builds easily.
  • Inputting a Build ID in the build browser search will show all corresponding builds created by the build’s author for the current hero.
  • For private lobbies, players can now switch positions between teams with a button press. Also includes random player shuffling between teams, and shuffling within teams for lane assignments.
  • An “Allow Duplicate Heroes” option has been added for Private Lobbies.
  • Certain heroes now have top-priority statuses for placement in dual lanes (currently applicable to Ivy and Dynamo).
  • Each player now has access to an individual voice volume slider (via player selection in the ESC menu).
  • Pausing the game is prohibited during the first three minutes of play.
  • Localized versions for Thai and Indonesian have been added.
  • The temporary voiceover for Yamato has been replaced with a new translation by a native actress.
  • Indication of AoE range for Stomp has been added as the Walker prepares to use this ability.
  • The display for status effects above the health bar has been refined.
  • Fixed issues with trooper shooting reliability while on ziplines.
  • Corrected an issue with unsecured souls giving extra bounty to the dying hero carrying them.
  • Improvements made for AFK kick detection functionality.
  • Crit Bonus Scale is now displayed in the Weapon stats sections within the shop.

  • Keybinds within settings will now select the hero being played when navigating to the Keybinds tab.
  • Rescue Beam now shows healing indicators when it successfully heals an ally.
  • Fixed an issue with the Debuff Reducer causing Teleporters to function more quickly.
  • Steam notifications have been repositioned from the bottom-right to the top-left to avoid overlapping with the minimap.
  • Maintaining mouse look while holding M3 is now possible before the ping wheel appears.
  • Middle mouse clicking for “pinging” the minimap has been enabled.
  • Middle mouse clicking now functions for selected players listed in the top bar.
  • Fixed occasional issues causing Shiv’s Killing Blow to propel him unexpectedly.
  • Shiv’s Killing Blow now correctly stops dealing damage during teleports via Quantum Entanglement.
  • Quantum Entanglement’s camera positioning animations have been smoothed out.
  • Yamato’s Flying Strike now cancels if the target leaves the playable area (similar to Quantum Entanglement behaviors).
  • Addressed issues preventing pausing functionality from activating with hero-specific key binds.
  • Lash’s Death Slam now features clearer visual states indicating successful locks.
  • Fixed instances of Grey Talon’s trap effects becoming immobilized in the game world.
  • Updated the strike-preview cone for ground strikes for better clarity regarding shape and outer boundaries.
  • The option to Abandon Match has been restricted to when a player has disconnected from the game server. Bringing up the menu during a connected game will instead give the option to Disconnect directly.

  • The introduction of itinerary for “Getting Started” voiceovers aligns more closely with the text narrative.
  • Numerous bugs affecting VO playback during matches have been addressed, resulting in better overall performance of hero VO remarks during combat (e.g., allied abilities, patrons’ remarks for assists and healing).
  • Patrons will once again alert players when their Walkers are under threat.
  • Words of encouragement from patrons upon leveling up have been shifted to occur when a player levels instead of after taking down a Guardian or Walker.
  • Increased the time needed to transport the urn before activation nags about delivery are triggered.
  • Additional fixes have been made for instances where incorrect hero names were called out.
  • If players are Dynamo or Krill, they can now ping during their ultimate to notify allies.
  • Mirage retains his fondness for Djinn but emphasizes it less often now.
  • New custom animations for charge and light melee attacks along with parries have been added for Bebop.
  • Enhanced animation for melee actions while utilizing Siphon Life, allowing the book to float while the hand forms a fist.
  • Updated animations for Grey Talon’s root trap effect.
  • Firing, projectile, and impact effects for Grey Talon have been updated.
  • Graphics for Rain of Arrows effect have received enhancements.
  • New heavy melee animations for Mo & Krill and Ivy have been introduced.
  • Trooper tracer and muzzle effects have been adjusted to reduce visual noise and improve alignment.
  • Adjusted the Life Drain effect for Lady Geist to enhance awareness when it first latches while minimizing visual obstruction.
