Deadlock Patch Notes for September 14: Emergency Bebop Nerfs and Additional Changes

Deadlock’s September 12 update brought significant buffs to Bebop, followed by a swift update on September 14 aimed at recalibrating his power level. Players quickly noted the strength of Bebop’s ultimate ability, describing it as one of the most overpowering in the game, particularly since hiding behind walls became less effective.

Despite Bebop’s ultimate appearing counterable in theory, its damage output and difficulty to evade made it a formidable challenge in practice, often resulting in team wipeouts before Knockdown activated.

Here are the complete Deadlock September 14 patch notes:

Although these nerfs do not completely negate his earlier buffs, they do considerably lower his overall power. His ultimate ability is, in some aspects, now weaker than it was prior to the nerfs. Nevertheless, he remains in a better position overall, as his ultimate still retains its improvements and other ability buffs remain intact.

For context, here are the changes from the September 12 patch:

  • Uppercut no longer roots the hero during cast time
  • Can continue firing while jumping if the laser is already warmed up
  • Reverted a recent change allowing the hook to pierce through allies/enemies
  • Hook range decreased from 35m to 30m
  • Hyper Beam now inflicts splash damage in a 5m radius at the contact point on the ground, useful for pulling heroes out of cover in certain areas

Valve’s development team frequently implements quick hotfixes between major Deadlock updates. Any additional changes before the next significant patch, expected around September 26, will be communicated.
