Deadlock players are loving this beautiful greener map design

Enthusiasm for this concept art depicting a verdant, vibrant map, reminiscent of Bioshock Infinite’s aesthetic, has captivated Deadlock players.

Deadlock’s art style is a unique combination of steampunk and fantasy, set in the occult backdrop of New York. Players have been captivated by the game’s intricate blend of mechanical and organic designs. However, some have noticed that the current map is lacking in vibrant greenery, which many players crave.

The most recent concept art revealed by Valve demonstrates a drastic departure from the noir atmosphere.

The map showcases an increased amount of vegetation and occult-themed posters that decorate the facades of structures. It introduces a revitalized Middle Temple, providing a renewed, Bioshock Infinite-esque atmosphere to the MOBA shooter.

This refreshed appearance has also resonated well with players.

Players on Reddit are filled with excitement. One enthusiastic player exclaimed, “I absolutely adore green urban areas! Please give me more of that!”

Another person expressed the same sentiment, exclaiming, “Oh my god, that is simply impeccable style.”

The concept art blends elements from both the advertised visuals for Neon Prime, an earlier version of the game by Valve, and the current alpha appearance of Deadlock. Neon Prime featured more vivid visuals and a dynamic day-and-night cycle.

Despite the hope that the concept art will be reflected in future maps, some players support Valve’s choice to take a different direction. As stated in a comment on another Reddit post about Deadlock from a fellow player, the art style in the video “seems too similar to Overwatch’s design aesthetic”which could be a factor in the developers’ decision to go with a New York occult theme instead.

Despite this, the players have expressed their desire to see the Cursed Apple become greener. As one player stated, “while gameplay and balancing take priority, it would be nice to eventually see more plant life incorporated into our current map.”

Despite its invite-only status, Deadlock has managed to secure a spot on the list of the top 10 most-played games on Steam. The community of players is thriving, with a strong support for Ivy and a dismissal of Lash as an “a**hole.”The excitement surrounding the concept art for the game’s map indicates that this fan base is not only growing, but also deeply engaged in its ever-expanding universe.
