Deadlock Players Crown “Sentient Gargoyle” as the Best Girl in the Game

Valve has recently allowed playtesters to discuss its upcoming online shooter, and fans are already intrigued by Ivy, a “sentient gargoyle”girl who is armed with a crossbow.

In this hero shooter, there will be a variety of distinctive characters for players to choose from. Among them, Ivy has garnered the attention of some players who are already eager to select her as their main and favorite character.

Ivy is most effective when paired with another teammate and has the ability to hinder or immobilize opponents, functioning as a supportive character that can team up with a fellow ally.

However, according to a user on X/Twitter, this gargoyle adorned with a newsboy cap and baggy pants is gaining the community’s affection for reasons that go beyond just her gameplay.

The poster clarified that based on just the alpha, it was evident that the sentient gargoyle was going to be the most popular girl in Deadlock, rather than any of the other esteemed women, like Vindicta.

The majority of responses concurred with them, including one player who elaborated on why Ivy was highly favored: “Sometimes, a comical little goblin creature is all it takes to win people over to a character.”

Another comment praised the character design of Ivy, stating, “Ivy is incredibly well-designed. The intricate seam-like markings add a lovely touch to her appearance.”

Despite not knowing anything about Ivy’s backstory or abilities, some fans still found her likable, with one comment declaring, “I don’t need to know anything else about her to know she’s already the best girl.”

Following the playtesters’ ability to openly discuss their experience with Deadlock and Valve’s acknowledgement of its existence, fan art featuring Ivy the gargoyle has been emerging online.

A simple search on X will reveal a vast collection of incredible drawings featuring this gargoyle. From comical memes to animated interpretations, Ivy’s appearance alone has captured the attention of the player community.

Despite some already predicting that Valve’s new game will have a global impact, it is inevitable that Ivy will become the dominant character in most conversations.
