Deadlock is undergoing significant updates as it remains in Alpha, with the latest patch introducing extensive modifications to the map and in-game menus alongside numerous item adjustments. There’s much to absorb in this release.

Valve has officially transitioned to constant matchmaking queues, allowing players from all regions to access Deadlock at any time. This adjustment signifies a pivotal step towards a potential public release of the game.

This patch includes a general price reduction for 6300 soul items, major nerfs for Kelvin, a revamped minimap, and many other changes. While it may not be as extensive as the update from August 29, it comes close.

Note that the balance modifications are likely to create some shifts in gameplay dynamics.

Heroes

Abrams

  • Fixed Seismic Impact getting stuck on ceilings in the mid-boss room
  • Shoulder Charge turn rate slightly reduced
  • Infernal Resilience decreased from 17% to 16%
  • Shoulder Charge stun time reduced from 1s to 0.85s

Bebop

  • Uppercut no longer roots the hero during cast time
  • Can fire while jumping if the laser is already warmed up
  • Reverted the change to make hook pierce allies/enemies
  • Hook range reduced from 35m to 30m
  • Hyper Beam now inflicts splash damage in a 5m radius where it connects on the ground, useful for flushing heroes out of cover in certain areas

Dynamo

  • Rejuvenating Aurora remains active when stamina is depleted
  • Rejuvenating Aurora T3 reduced from 4% to 3.8%
  • Kinetic Pulse T1 slow reduced from 40% to 35%
  • Quantum Entanglement cooldown increased from 11s to 12s

Gray Talon

  • Fixed Charged Shot hitting targets behind walls
  • Fixed Guided Owl dealing damage through structures
  • Rain of Arrows Weapon Damage reduced from +7 to +4

  • Base health reduced from 625 to 600
  • Flame Dash slow resistance increased from 30% to 50%

Ivy

  • Fixed control issues near walls while flying
  • Air Drop silence and slow debuff duration reduced from 4.5s to 4s

Kelvin

  • Arctic Beam fire rate slow decreased from 80% to 40%
  • Arctic Beam movement slow decreased from 80% to 70%
  • Objectives and Rejuvenator are invulnerable when under frozen shelter
  • Ice Path and Arctic Beam can now be canceled by pressing the ability key again

Lady Geist

  • Essence Bomb T3 damage increased from 22% to 26%
  • Essence Bomb spirit scaling increased from 1.05 to 1.15
  • Fixed a bug with Malice, preventing multiple blood shards from being absorbed by one hero
  • Self Damage no longer consumes shields

Lash

  • Ground Slam now allows directional turning during descent

Map Changes

Inner Lane Changes:

  • New connections from the Shop to the front of the Department Store and New York Oracle buildings
  • New veil added at the front opening toward the opposing side
  • Cover barrier added in front of the opening with the veil
  • Catwalk stairs in front of the Department Store and New York Oracle moved closer to the Mid

Base Changes:

  • Walkway connection from outer lane exits to inner lane exits angled
  • An overhang added below the Patron position
  • Two juke closets added facing the Patron

Rope Changes:

  • Exterior ropes removed from the Garage and Nightclub
  • Replaced interior stairwells with ropes inside the Garage and Nightclub providing access to the 2nd floor and roof

Rooftop Changes:

  • Apothecary and Imports rooftops raised to match heights of the Record Store and Comedy Club
  • Removed rooftop details from unsafe roofs
  • New rooftop details added to valid rooftops

General Changes/Misc

New Minimap:

  • Base asset updated with new unique Hero Icons
  • Neutral Camps now highlighted on buildings they occupy
  • The Orange Lane (Orchard) is now the Green Lane (Greenwich)

Behavior System Introduced:

  • Players may temporarily lose certain game capabilities, including Matchmaking, Voice Chat, Text Chat, Pausing, and Reporting. The tracking system is live, but penalties will be assessed after reviewing results.
  • A low priority queue now exists. Players may enter by abandoning games or other misbehaviors and must complete a predetermined number of games to return to normal matchmaking.
  • Frequent misreports will result in losing reporting privileges and possibly entering low priority.

Queue/Match Abandonment Adjustments:

  • New solo-queued players will only match with other newcomers until achieving 4 wins
  • The lane allocation setups of 1-1-2-2 and 2-2-1-1 are no longer possible
  • A party of 6 players will not match against solo players, potentially leading to longer queue times for 6 stacks.
  • 5 player party size is now disallowed
  • AFK players will be automatically removed after several minutes
  • Abandon Match dialog now provides clearer consequences for leaving
  • An additional delay implemented on the Abandon Match click to prevent accidental triggers

UI/UX and General Clarity Updates:

  • Custom hero-specific hotkeys added
  • Bounce Pad graphics replaced with wind fan visuals that indicate travel path
  • Visual updates to the Soul Urn with frog leg effects
  • Orange zipline updated to green
  • Space Bar no longer invalidates abilities, which can be canceled via repeated pressing
  • Alternate Cast modes behaviors merged for efficiency
  • UI hints added for Alternate Cast Button in specific cases
