Deadpool 3 Director Talks Real-Life Inspiration for Drug Joke

One of the most unforgettable moments in the initial Deadpool & Wolverine trailer was a reference to breaking the fourth wall and discussing drug use, but it has been revealed that this was inspired by an actual conversation.

Despite its vulgar marketing tactics, Deadpool 3 remains obligated to the demands of the MCU. This is evident in one scene of the initial trailer, where Blind Al casually inquires if Wade would like to join in on the consumption of illegal substances during his birthday celebration.

“Hey, remember when Feige said that cocaine was off-limits?”Deadpool whispered to Al.

The scene commences at 2:18, as seen in the video at https://youtu.be/73_1biulkYk?t=138.

The banter between the two individuals continued, with each suggesting alternate names for cocaine that were ultimately rejected by Kevin Feige, the President of Marvel Studios. These proposed names included “Bolivian marching powder,””disco dust,”and “do you want to build a snowman.”

Based on director Shawn Levy’s statement, the joke was inspired by an actual conversation he had with Kevin Feige regarding the extent to which Deadpool and Wolverine could allude to drug use.

According to Levy in an interview with Total Film, there were initial discussions about openly showing drug use in the film. This sparked an intriguing conversation, leading to the decision to include a dialogue scene about the experience.

Deadpool and Wolverine have already made a mark in history as possibly the most daring MCU film to date, earning an R-rating that aligns with the previous films of its two lead actors. The movie fully embraces this rating, even featuring a crude PSA reprimanding audience members who failed to silence their phones.

Despite facing some minor controversy, the movie has remained a topic of discussion. This is due to some of its content being censored in the trailers, including the pegging line featured in the same trailer.

Despite the ongoing controversy, the film is still smashing records and is expected to be one of the most highly anticipated releases of the summer. However, it may not feature as many instances of Deadpool using “Forest bump” as the actors had originally desired.

Deadpool & Wolverine are set to hit theaters on July 26. In the meantime, catch up on the latest news about the Deadpool creator’s rumored feud with Disney or find out where to purchase the Deadpool & Wolverine friendship necklace.
