Deadpool and Wolverine: 10 Easter Eggs You Missed

Get ready, because it’s finally arrived! Deadpool and Wolverine are sure to blow you away with their allusions, mini-spots, and Easter eggs.

Ryan Reynolds returns as Deadpool, joined by Hugh Jackman in their roles.

The cast includes many familiar faces such as Wolverine, Deadpool (including Lady Deadpool), and actors from previous Fox films, as well as one from a fictitious film. However, this is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of what the movie has to offer.

Despite the rapid delivery of one-liners, it is highly likely that you may have missed some of the references and inside jokes.

All the details you may have overlooked are listed below:

10. Well-Known Artifacts

When Deadpool and Wolverine arrive in The Void, keep an eye out for some recognizable artifacts. The winged helmet of Thor and the shield of Captain America are both depicted in a traditional manner.

The base of the Resistance houses a statue of Scarlet Witch, a Fatasticar, Q-ships belonging to Thanos, a modified version of Red Skull’s previous vehicle, and the 20th Century Fox logo.

9. Chris Evans as Human Torch

Upon his appearance in the Void, Chris Evans delivers a surprising performance that initially suggests a departure from his usual portrayal of Captain America.

In a surprising turn of events, shortly after, he exclaims, “Flame on!” and it becomes evident that he is Johnny Storm, the Human Torch from the Fantastic Four. The post-credits scene was particularly unexpected, as Evans was shown using profanity like a sailor.

8. Blade’s Return

Within the Void, there is a lot of discussion surrounding the different types of superheroes. In fact, Wesley Snipes’ Blade makes it clear by saying, “There’s no one else like Blade.”

Upon being asked, Deadpool responds by gazing awkwardly into the camera, subtly implying to the audience that a new Blade film featuring Mahershala Ali will indeed be making a comeback.

Despite being in development for years, the MCU Blade movie may inadvertently add an extra layer to the joke.

Despite initial doubts, it was unexpected to see Ali’s updated version of Blade, played by Wesley Snipes, in the MCU, as many believed he would not make an appearance before this.

7 The Variants of Wolverine

Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of multiple Wolverine Variants, including one that could potentially become Earth-10005’s new anchor, evokes a feeling of nostalgia and serves as the ultimate tribute to the actor himself.

Within this collection, there are various versions of Wolverine depicted, including the accurate representation of the character at 5’3″, Weapon Omega from the Age of Apocalypse storyline, Patch, Old Man Logan, and a rendition of the iconic cover from Uncanny X-Men #251 where Wolverine is portrayed crucified. Additionally, there is an unmasked Wolverine engaged in battle with The Hulk, dressed in his traditional brown outfit.

The final and most unexpected appearance is made by Henry Cavill, also known as “The Cavillrine.”

Liefeld’s Just Feet

For those who are devoted fans of comic books, there’s a treat in store for you. In the background of Wolverine and Deadpool stands “Liefeld’s Just Feet”store, as they prepare to face off against a multitude of different versions of Deadpool.

This is a tribute to Rob Liefeld, co-creator of Deadpool, who is notorious for openly admitting his struggles with drawing feet and often conceals the lower body parts of his characters in his scenes.

In the world of comic book fandom, this joke has been ongoing for several years. In fact, Deadpool himself nonchalantly described Liefeld as “a person who struggles with drawing feet.”

The initial trailer for Deadpool and Wolverine unveiled an Easter egg, and the always humorous Liefeld wasted no time in expressing his joy on social media.

Stark Tower

Deadpool utilizes Cable’s time-travel technology to journey to the Sacred Timeline, where he arranges a meeting with Happy Hogan in Tony Stark’s office to explore the possibility of joining the Avengers.

Among the many Easter Eggs waiting to be discovered are Captain America’s half-constructed shield, Agent Coulson’s playing cards (held during his death at the hands of Loki), Pepper Potts’ Forbes Magazine cover, Ultron’s Iron Man disguise, the Mark V suitcase, and Tony’s inscribed Arc Reactor.

The fan theory that connects Spider-Man to Iron Man 2 has now been officially recognized as part of the MCU canon, solidifying their strong link.

The Squad of Deadpool

Despite not being expected to make an appearance in the MCU, there are numerous Variants of Deadpool and Wolverine that are featured on screen. While the movie primarily focuses on other aspects, the Deadpool Corps still has a small role in the story.

Blake Lively, wife of Ryan Reynolds, plays the role of Ladypool, while her colleague Gordon is credited as Nicepool. Inez Reynolds, the couple’s daughter, portrays Kidpool, and their newest employee, Olin Reynolds, takes on the role of Babypool.

It’s simply a group of individuals with the name Reynold(s) who are bringing us joy through their humor!

In the opening credits, Headpool is portrayed by Nathan Fillion, while Matthew McConaughey makes his debut in the MCU as Cowboypool. Peggy the Dog takes on the role of Dogpool, while Alex Kyshkovych serves as the stunt performer for Canadapool. Paul Mullin of Wrexham and A.F.C. and Nick Pauley, an actor and dancer, bring Welshpool and Dancepool to life, respectively.

Hints about Secret Wars

The fact that the MCU is gearing up for the release of Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027 is widely acknowledged.

Shortly after his arrival in the Void, Deadpool begins to pick up on subtle hints about his and Wolverine’s potential involvement in Secret Wars. When he regains consciousness, he finds himself surrounded by a vast collection of Marvel memorabilia, including the Hellicarrier, Captain America’s (Chris Evans) shield, Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) helmet, and, of course, the Secret Wars #5 comic book.

This statement confirms the appearance of both Deadpool and Wolverine in the upcoming Secret Wars film.

2-A-cameo-by-Stan-Lee

Despite not being involved in the creation of Deadpool, the late Stan Lee made appearances in both the films and a trailer for the sequel.

In both Deadpool and Wolverine, Lee makes an appearance as the titular characters hack their way through the Deadpool Corps on a bus.

A cleaning service is being advertised on the side with a cartoon portrayal of the famous comic book author, serving as a touching tribute to Lee and his immense impact on the Marvel Universe even after his passing in 2018.

1. The movie ends with a nod to The Avengers.

Upon successfully saving the day, Deadpool and Wolverine decide to commemorate their victory by indulging in shawarma, a quintessential element of the MCU experience.

The statement clearly alludes to the well-known scene in the post-credits of The Avengers (2012), where the superheroes enjoy a meal at an empty restaurant as a reward for their victory in the Battle of New York.

Following the success of the 2012 movie, Deadpool jokingly states, “Fun fact: the Avengers actually discovered shawarma!” as he and Wolverine enjoy a shawarma meal in the movie’s final scene.

Regardless of whether you appreciate the abundance of Easter eggs, subtle nods, and not-so-subtle jokes, or you view them as a lackluster replacement for original writing and compelling storytelling, it is undeniable that Deadpool & Wolverine is brimming with these elements.
