Deadpool Corps: Who’s in the Crazy Comic Book Team?

The Deadpool Corps is the biggest mystery in Deadpool & Wolverine, yet our fascination with them remains strong. But who exactly are they and what information do we have about them thus far?

It is the ultimate desire of every Marvel enthusiast to witness their beloved comic book characters being portrayed in live-action on the silver screen, and this desire is about to be fulfilled with the appearance of the Deadpool Corps in the film Deadpool & Wolverine.

Despite Lady Deadpool being more well-known, there are other members who have remained hidden. However, their appearances in Deadpool are now being unveiled for the first time.

Therefore, what information can we gather from the comics about the Deadpool Corps, and how do they relate to the larger Marvel universe? Here is a complete rundown on these beloved new characters.

Members and Deaths of the Deadpool Corps

In addition to the prominent leader, the Deadpool Corps consists of 16 different versions from various Earths. As stated in the comics, a total of 14 Corps members have perished.

Familiar individuals consist of:

  • Deadpool (Earth-616)
  • Lady Deadpool (Earth-3010) (deceased)
  • Kidpool (Earth-10330) (deceased)
  • Dogpool (Earth-103173) (deceased)
  • Deadpool Pulp (Earth-10310) (deceased)
  • Headpool/Zombie Deadpool (Earth-2149) (deceased)
  • Pandapool (Earth-TRN-132) (deceased)
  • Golden Age Deadpool (Earth-TRN245) (deceased)
  • Mimepool (Earth-20110)
  • Motorpool (Earth-TRN313) (deceased)
  • Beard of Beespool (Earth-TRN314) (deceased)
  • Squirrelpool (Earth-TRN351) (deceased)
  • Grootpool (Earth-TRN352) (deceased)
  • Knightpool (Earth-TRN353) (deceased)
  • Hawkeyepool (Earth-TRN354) (deceased)
  • Chibipool (Earth-TRN256) (deceased)
  • Watari (Ronin Pool)
  • Evil Deadpool (formerly traitor)

Although never explicitly confirmed, Deadpool and Lady Deadpool are widely believed to be the de facto leaders of the group. Currently, the team is considered to have disbanded.

In addition, there exists another version of the Corps called the Deadpool Corps (Earth 20110), which adds to the confusion. In this iteration, Deadpool 616 remains the leader, but is referred to as Mimepool and wears a modified version of his original costume.

Despite their similar name, this group has a more problematic history compared to the original Deadpool Corps. One of their members, Mimepool, mistakenly caused the death of the Avengers (oops) and was subsequently ousted as leader, with Lady Deadpool taking over. In a rather extreme punishment, the Corps launched him into space on a rocket, though it’s uncertain if he actually perished.

The group has a membership of 20110 people, consisting of:

  • Mimepool (Earth-20110) (presumed deceased)
  • Lady Deadpool (Earth-20110)
  • Kidpool (Earth-20110)
  • Headpool/Zombie Deadpool (Earth-20110)
  • Dogpool (Earth-20110)

As of this moment, it is uncertain which version of the Corps, as seen in superhero comics, will make an appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine. However, we can make an educated prediction.

Marvel Appearances

The Deadpool Corps has been featured in a total of three Marvel comics, and each time, the group has become increasingly fragmented.

The group made their debut in the Deadpool comic Deadpool Corps Vol. 1 #1. As the saying goes, everything was exactly as it was advertised.

In Deadpool Kills Deadpool Vol. 1 #3, the Corps makes its next appearance. The issue depicts the Corps as being semi-disbanded due to the belief that Deadpool 616 and Pandapool are the only remaining members.

In Deadpool Kills Deadpool Vol. 1 #4, the Corps is observed to have completely disbanded. The death of Pandapool leaves 616 as the sole survivor.

Role in Deadpool & Wolverine

The final trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine officially confirmed the existence of the Deadpool Corps. However, it was believed that only a Lady Deadpool feature was certain.

In the above image, numerous Deadpools are visible and ready to join the upcoming Marvel project. However, Lady Deadpool stands out as the only one who is not obscured in the background.

Despite that, the shadows offer insight into the identities of the individuals we are expected to encounter. In addition to our two main leaders, Headpool, Kidpool, Babypool, and Cowboy Deadpool – potentially portrayed by Matthew McConaughey – can all be seen in the background.

These variations have also been seen in promotional artwork that was published prior to the release of the final trailer.

Dogpool, also known as Peggy, who has gained fame as ‘Britain’s ugliest dog’, has been making appearances at press and sneak peek events, further solidifying her role in the film.

We are still unsure about the extent of the Corps’ involvement. We do know that Deadpool and Wolverine will be seeking assistance in defeating the formidable Cassandra Nova, but can they succeed?

Explanation of the Deadpool Corps Oath

To become a member of the esteemed red masks, one must recite the Deadpool Corps’ unique oath, which is remarkably simple to memorize.

The oath states, “Whether in the lightest of darkness or the darkest of light, you don’t need any bling to be a part of the battle. We are mercenaries with sharp tongues and many talents. Yippee-ki-yay, we are the Deadpool Corps!”

After Contemplator brought Deadpool 616 out of his universe to join a team, the Corps that we have come to know and love was formed. Upon accepting the invitation, the Corps came together as it is today.

Deadpool’s Team Affiliations

Technically, one could argue that Deadpool and Wolverine make up a team on their own. However, in the comics, Deadpool has been a member of over 10 teams, some of which have yet to be featured on screen.

Some of the groups he has been affiliated with are The Wizard’s Frightful Four, Six Pack, Secret Defenders, Weapon X, Uncanny X-Force, Red Hulk’s Thunderbolts, Mercs For Money, Deadpool Inc., various Avengers teams, and not forgetting Deadpool Corps.

Among the aforementioned options, four fans in particular should pay close attention to the aftermath of Deadpool & Wolverine. As we are well aware, the MCU has a fondness for crossovers, and the third installment of Deadpool will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the X-Men timeline.

With Deadpool and Wolverine officially joining forces, there is potential for their partnership to expand into the Uncanny X-Force. Additionally, Reynolds has hinted at the use of sling rings as a possible explanation for their portal-jumping in the movie.

As it is commonly known, sling rings are usually associated with Doctor Strange and have been regularly featured in the Avengers. With two highly anticipated movies coming up, it is possible that we may see the masked hero in either Secret Wars or Avengers 5, or even both.

Additionally, we must not disregard the possibility of Red Hulk’s Thunderbolts. In the trailer for Captain America 4, Harrison Ford’s Red Hulk is briefly hinted at towards the end. Could this be a foreshadowing of future events?

Are Deadpool Corps and Captain Britain Corps the same?

Deadpool Corps and Captain Britain Corps are two distinct teams, with no connection between them. Deadpool is not affiliated with the latter.

The concept of Captain Britain Corps remains largely unchanged, as it brings together a diverse group of superheroes to create a powerful and effective crime-fighting force.

The primary distinction between the two is their size. The Captain Britain Corps is believed to consist of 22 present members, along with an impressive 76 former members.

After investigating the collapse of the multiverse, the initial version of the Corps became defunct. However, Betsy Braddock established a new version of the organization.

On July 25, Deadpool and Wolverine will be hitting the big screen. Discover the movie’s age rating, Wolverine’s backstory, and the possibility of Spider-Man making an appearance.
