Deadpool & Wolverine to Make Box Office History in 2024

The highly anticipated film, Deadpool & Wolverine, is set to hit theaters in Summer 2024. It appears that the upcoming MCU movie will also break records in its opening weekend.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, sources report that Deadpool & Wolverine is poised for an impressive opening and is projected to be the first film of 2024 to reach a $100 million opening weekend.

Despite 2024 being a significant year for the film industry, not a single movie has managed to surpass the $100 million mark during its opening weekend. The previous films that accomplished this feat in 2023 were a successful mix of movies, such as Barbie, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Deadpool & Wolverine will be breaking records and each other all summer long

It should come as no surprise that the expected success is high, considering the previous Deadpool films are some of the highest-grossing movies of all time. According to Box Office Mojo, the 2016 film Deadpool ranks at #42 with an opening weekend of $132 million, while the 2018 sequel Deadpool 2 falls slightly lower at $125 million.

This ranking places it among other notable films such as Avatar: The Way of Water and The Batman, which is both intriguing and expected. Iron Man 2, released in 2010, falls in between the two at #44, with an opening weekend of $126 million.

Despite traditionally being lower on the list, Deadpool may see increased success with the absence of other Marvel Cinematic Universe films and the potential addition of the X-Men. The franchise has a history of dominating opening weekends, currently holding six out of the top 10 slots with popular titles like Black Panther and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Avengers: Endgame still holds the top spot with an impressive $357 million opening.

The highly anticipated third Deadpool film, which finally unites the Merc with a Mouth and Wolverine in the MCU after being under Fox, has already garnered attention. According to AMC executive Adam Aron, Deadpool & Wolverine has already broken records at AMC, surpassing the first-day ticket sales of any other R-rated movie.

When Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters on July 26, it is expected to break box office records. While anticipating its release, fans can also explore every known cameo of Deadpool & Wolverine and discover why many are convinced that Taylor Swift will appear in Deadpool 3.
