NewJeans Celebrates Min Hee-jin’s Birthday with Warm Wishes
On December 16, members of the popular girl group NewJeans took to their newly launched social media account, @jeanzforfree, to share a heartfelt birthday message for Min Hee-jin. The group, consisting of Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein, expressed their affection with the simple yet meaningful message, “Happy birthday Director-nim,” accompanied by delightful pictures and videos.
Among the shared content was an endearing video of Danielle performing the classic “Happy Birthday”song. Fans were also charmed by a whimsical image featuring a bunny adorned with a birthday hat, a nod to the beloved characters associated with NewJeans.
Min Hee-jin responded graciously by liking the post, showing her appreciation for the group’s thoughtful gesture. In addition to this, NewJeans updated their Instagram bio, transitioning from five hearts representing their individual colors—pink, yellow, green, and purple—to five animal emojis that symbolize each member.
This alteration in their bio has led to speculation regarding potential tension with fans of Red Velvet, another girl group that has been influenced by Min Hee-jin’s creative vision. Fans of Red Velvet highlighted the similarity in the colors used by both groups, leading to claims that NewJeans is emulating their predecessors.
In a broader context, NewJeans inaugurated their Instagram account just two days prior, on December 14. This account features the name “Jeanz,”which has sparked speculations about the group’s plans following their departure from ADOR.
Following their initial post on the new platform, which expressed support for protestors advocating for the South Korean President’s impeachment, the members have actively shared updates. Their follower count has since soared past 2.4 million, reflecting their rapid rise in popularity.
Furthermore, they have opened the comments section for fan interactions, marking a shift in their approach to engaging with supporters. This development follows a press conference held on November 28, during which NewJeans announced the termination of their exclusive contract with ADOR as of November 29, citing breaches of contract while asserting that no penalties or further legal actions would occur.
