While many fans eagerly await the global launch of Pokemon TCG Pocket, the mobile game has already begun rolling out in select regions, including New Zealand. This allows players in that region, as well as savvy mobile users who have switched their location, to access the new title.
Preview content for the game hinted at some of the cards on the way, but now the floodgates have opened, and the internet is brimming with all the cards and unique illustrations players can discover in Pokemon TCG Pocket when they finally get the chance to play.
Many of these cards are already generating excitement online, but one card stands out in particular. It not only revisits a classic card from 1999 but also corrects an error that plagued the original artwork.
As reported by Pokebeach, Pokemon TCG Pocket reintroduces the original Slowpoke card from 1999. This marked the Water-type Pokemon’s debut in the trading card game, hailing from the very first Pokemon Fossil set.
The artwork for both cards comes from longtime Pokemon TCG collaborator Miki Tanaka. However, keen-eyed fans might notice that the original card inaccurately states the artist’s name as Miki Takano. Thankfully, Pokemon TCG Pocket addresses this long-standing misprint.
Additionally, while the original card featured a solitary Slowpoke standing in an empty field, the new version presents an extended artwork on a unique illustration card, unveiling a delightful scene with multiple Slowpokes lounging nearby.
Fans have been expressing their enthusiasm for this update, with comments on Pokebeach’s original post describing the enhancement as “incredible,” while another fan stated, “That’s great to see!”
Many players are also hopeful that this new card doesn’t remain a digital exclusive, with some voicing their disappointment: “The more I see, the more I’m sad that all these just remain digital.”
