Defeating Lanmola: A Guide for The Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom

The Gerudo Desert is notorious for its perilous inhabitants, among which the formidable Lanmola stand out. With three distinct Lanmola roaming the sands, each creature poses a unique challenge, culminating in the final encounter linked to the Wild Sandstorms side quest. This guide aims to assist you in locating and defeating these elusive foes in the game Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.

Locating the Lanmola in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

Although three Lanmola inhabit the desert, players can initially defeat only the first two. Once you’ve successfully vanquished them, visit the Barracks in Gerudo Town to initiate the Wild Sandstorms quest, granting access to the final, powerful Lanmola for battle. Notably, locating these creatures can be quite a challenge.

To find the Green Lanmola, head slightly northeast of the Oasis. The area might be obscured by a sandstorm, making navigation tricky; however, keep moving in that direction. You’ll know you’re close when the ground begins to tremble and quicksand emerges beneath you.

For the second Lanmola, venture northwest of the Oasis. This one is situated even closer to the Oasis than the first.

Once the first two Lanmola are defeated, return to Gerudo City’s Barracks to begin the Wild Sandstorms quest. The final Lanmola will then emerge, located in the same vicinity as the Green Lanmola, just northeast of the Oasis.

Strategies for Defeating the Lanmola in Echoes of Wisdom

Before engaging the Lanmola, it is essential to acquire the Gerudo Sandals. Although the battle is possible without them, the Sandals significantly enhance your mobility by preventing you from sinking into the quicksand generated by the Lanmola.

Gerudo Sandals are available for purchase at the shop in Gerudo Town for 400 Rupees.

All three Lanmola exhibit varying strengths while maintaining a predictable attack pattern. Developing a strategy will be crucial for overcoming them, as they may seem almost invulnerable until their weaknesses are exploited.

The Lanmola will initiate its attack by launching rocks at you as it burrows through the sand. Evade these boulders and follow the creature until you’re close enough to grab its tail. Use the Bind ability effectively while it attempts to dig in deeper to free it from the depths. This moment of vulnerability allows you to strike.

Once it’s pulled from the sand, switch to Sword Fighter Form to unleash powerful attacks from your Echoes on its vulnerable underbelly. If your attacks don’t defeat the Lanmola on the first try, repeat the process until victory is yours.

In addition to dodging the Lanmola’s boulders, be vigilant of its allies. The final Lanmola, especially, is often accompanied by Scorpions. Summon your Echoes continuously to manage the battlefield and prevent being overwhelmed.

Be particularly careful during your Binding attempts; any hits from boulders or nearby enemies could break your hold. Utilize quick lateral movements to avoid incoming attacks!

Rewards for Defeating the Lanmola

Upon defeating the third Lanmola, it will disintegrate into a Heart Piece, available for collection. However, be sure to return to the Gerudo City Barracks to officially conclude the Wild Sandstorms quest!

As a reward, you will receive a Gold Sash from the Gerudo. This accessory offers protection against strong winds, making it highly beneficial when navigating through areas populated by Ghirros or Wind Cannons.
