Deku’s journey comes full circle in the finale of My Hero Academia.

The highly-anticipated finale of My Hero Academia is scheduled to be released on Monday, August 5, 2024. However, several days prior to its official release, spoilers from Chapter 430 were leaked online, giving fans a glimpse into what can be expected for Deku in the finale. As expected, Kohei Horikoshi did not disappoint, and fans were given a taste of what is to come in the epic conclusion of My Hero Academia.

After the concluding battle in the My Hero Academia manga, viewers were left wondering if Deku would be able to regain his One For All quirk. According to the manga, only embers of the quirk remained within him, leading to speculation that he would suffer the same fate as All Might and lose the quirk entirely.

Despite this, fans still held out hope that the manga creator would somehow find a way to bring back Deku’s quirk. Unfortunately, it was revealed that Deku’s destiny had been predetermined from the very beginning of the series.

My Hero Academia finale: All Might gives Deku a second chance as a hero

Based on the leaked spoilers for chapter 430 of My Hero Academia, the finale of the series features an eight-year time jump. During this time, the manga reveals that Deku, having lost the remnants of One For All, takes on the role of a teacher in order to assist others despite no longer possessing a quirk.

Nonetheless, this wasn’t a choice he made in response to losing his quirk; it was a decision he had been contemplating since he heard Fuwa’s powerful words on his initial day in Class 2A. As a result, Deku essentially reverted back to his state at the beginning of the series. While his companions enjoyed the privileges of having a quirk, he devoted himself to acquiring and sharing knowledge about heroes and quirks.

Although Deku’s journey seemed to have come to an end, he remained determined to become a Pro Hero. After expressing his sadness to All Might, he sought out a solution. All Might then reached out to a friend in the United States and collaborated with Mei Hatsume to design a support item for Deku. Thanks to the support and contributions from his friends, particularly Katsuki Bakugo, Deku was able to once again pursue his dream of becoming a hero.

Therefore, in the My Hero Academia finale, not only did Izuku Midoriya lose his quirk once again, as he did at the beginning of the series, but he also received the opportunity to become a hero for the second time.

Despite being born without a quirk, Deku always looked up to All Might and dreamed of becoming a hero like him. However, All Might initially doubted Deku’s potential due to his shyness. But after witnessing Deku’s bravery in rushing to Bakugo’s aid, All Might’s opinion quickly changed. This act showed All Might that Deku possessed a true hero’s spirit, leading him to pass down his One For All quirk and appoint him as his successor.

In the same way, the finale of My Hero Academia featured All Might giving Deku a new support item, allowing him the opportunity to become a hero once more. Unlike before, when All Might needed convincing, this time he was the one who made the effort to have the support item made.

Despite their past history of bullying, there was a major shift in how Katsuki Bakugo treated Deku during the two events. In the past, Bakugo had constantly belittled and bullied Deku for his lack of a quirk and his dream of becoming a hero. However, this time around, it was Bakugo who showed the most belief in Deku. This was evident as he invested the most money to help create the support item.

As a result, Deku’s journey in My Hero Academia came full circle, starting and ending in the same place, but this time with the recognition of his true value by everyone.
