Delay in RuneScape Creator’s New MMO Brighter Shores Due to Funny Circumstances

Andrew Gower, the visionary behind the iconic game RuneScape and co-founder of Jagex Ltd, has revealed a slight postponement of his latest MMO, Brighter Shores, by just one day.

For fans who might be anxious about potential internal issues, there’s reassuring news: this minimal delay isn’t due to development hiccups. The launch will now take place a day later for political reasons, coinciding with the day of voting in the USA.

In a message shared via Twitter/X, Gower announced that Brighter Shores will now enter Early Access on November 6, moving from its original date of November 5, to steer clear of the Presidential elections.

Even though Gower and his team operate out of the UK, they are aiming to mirror the overwhelming success of RuneScape, which captured a vast player base in the USA. Early signs suggest that Brighter Shores has everything necessary to achieve such success.

The game showcases the distinctive style that fans have come to adore, featuring familiar activities and skills such as Woodcutting, Cooking, Fishing, and Mining. However, it appears that there’s a substantial amount of cutting-edge technology at play, with Gower providing an in-depth look into the game’s development process.

The creation of a custom game engine began back in 2010, with actual development on Brighter Shores kicking off in 2016. After a period of clandestine work, the game was publicly announced in March 2024, leaving players with a shortened wait time before they can experience the game firsthand.

A closed beta for Brighter Shores is scheduled to launch on October 22, with the full Early Access release set for November 6. Although the duration of the Early Access phase remains uncertain, the developers have assured players that their progress will be preserved leading into the official launch.
