On Thursday, June 13, 2024, the official X (formerly Twitter) account for the popular Winter 2024 anime series, Delicious in Dungeon, officially announced that season 2 is currently in production. The exciting news was revealed through a new trailer and key visual, clearly stating “season 2 confirmed”in the English version.
The recently released promotional video for Delicious in Dungeon season 2 showcased new footage from the highly anticipated season. Notably, viewers were treated to glimpses of a transformed Falin and Namari feasting on monstrous cuisine. The trailer also featured a climactic scene where the Mad Mage is seen marshaling a formidable army of monsters to battle against Laios and his companions.
The promotional material currently available for season 2 of Delicious in Dungeon unfortunately does not include any information about the release date for the upcoming season. However, the announcement trailer does feature some new scenes, giving fans hope that the series will be released before the end of 2025.
Delicious in Dungeon Season 2 Confirms Production, But Offers No Release Window Info to Fans
Regrettably, apart from the highlighted new scenes in the Delicious in Dungeon season 2 trailer, there is not a lot of information that can be gathered. The key visual is quite straightforward, depicting Laios’ group engaged with a few Walking Mushrooms, with one being significantly larger than them. Nevertheless, there is not much else noteworthy happening in the artwork of the key visual.
The second season was announced immediately following the conclusion of the first season on Thursday, June 13th, with a total of 24 episodes. The show had been available for streaming on Netflix during the Winter 2024 and Spring 2024 anime seasons, running for two continuous cours. Fans were delighted with Netflix’s decision to release the episodes weekly, as the series’ intense storyline was best consumed in smaller doses.
The series centers around Laious Touden, who initially leads a group that includes his sister Falin, half-elf magician Marcille Donato, halfling Chilchuck Tims, and other members. However, the story begins with Laios and his companions being defeated by a dragon and Falin being devoured. With their supplies and funds depleted, they make the decision to venture back into the dungeon in search of Falin, relying on consuming monsters for sustenance. Along the way, they encounter the dwarf warrior Senshi.
The second season of Delicious in Dungeon will continue the story of Ryoko Kui’s original seinen manga series of the same name. The series was originally serialized by Enterbrain in their Harta magazine from February 2014 to September 2023. The original manga consisted of 97 chapters, which were compiled into 14 volumes. Currently, 13 of the 14 volumes have been translated and released in English, with the 14th volume set to release in July 2024.
