On Thursday, September 12, 2024, the official website for the Delico’s Nursery anime series announced that the second half of the series would debut in Japan on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. This return will commence with episode 7 and will proceed with new episodes weekly, following a schedule of reruns for the first half of the season in the coming weeks.
The continuation of Delico’s Nursery will also be available for streaming on Crunchyroll in conjunction with its weekly broadcast in Japan, as part of the Summer 2024 anime season lineup. This decision comes after the anime’s premiere was delayed from its original July 2024 date to August 7, resulting in the continuation beyond the typical broadcast season.
Delico’s Nursery anime set to conclude during the Fall 2024 broadcast season
The Delico’s Nursery anime is scheduled to return on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, with episode 7 marking the start of its second half. The sixth episode aired on September 11, and reruns for the fourth episode will occur on September 18, followed by the fifth on September 25, and the sixth on October 2. A compilation of the first six episodes is set to air on October 9 to lead into the new episodes.
Although no explicit reason has been provided for the one-month hiatus prior to the second half, it is likely linked to the initial production delay from July to August 2024. This is especially relevant as the second part of the series is essentially a continuation of the initial season, launching directly with episode 7 rather than a new season.
Directed by Hiroshi Nishikori, Delico’s Nursery is produced by J.C. Staff studios, with Kenichi Suemitsu overseeing the scripts and series composition. Suemitsu is credited as the creator of the original work, which adapts his 2009 TRUMP stage play. Yoko Ito acts as the chief animation director and character designer, incorporating Koya’s original character designs.
Shunsuke Wada is responsible for the music composition, while Mika Nakashimo performs the opening theme “Unfair,” and Anonymouz provides the ending theme “Prayer.” The original stage play by Suemitsu debuted in Japan in 2009 and has inspired numerous adaptations, including plays, short stories, and concerts. A manga adaptation produced by Suemitsu and Hamaguri was launched in Kadokawa’s Young Ace magazine in November 2020 and concluded with its fifth volume.
A prequel manga series titled Cocoon was initially scheduled for release in Spring 2024 but faced delays due to health issues. Nevertheless, the manga was eventually released in the 2024 calendar year, with its first issue coming out on September 4.
