As the Demon Slayer series progresses, viewers are beginning to recognize the intricacies of the plot. One character in particular plays a vital role without whom the story would not be as compelling.
Tanjiro’s encounter with a man who cautioned him about venturing too far up a mountain at night during the beginning of Demon Slayer proved to be crucial. Despite only appearing once in the anime show, this individual’s warning indirectly saved Tanjiro’s life and served as a catalyst for the entire narrative.
As we continue watching Demon Slayer Season 4 and experience the Hashira Training Arc, leading up to the ultimate battle against Muzan, fans are finally giving recognition to a character who has been present since the very first episode. Known as Saburo, he has been deemed the “most underrated character”on Reddit, with numerous tributes dedicated to him.
According to one comment, the man’s actions of not wanting the child to be unsupervised ultimately saved the entire world. Another comment praises his caution and kindness, stating that he practically saved the world.
Numerous commenters are unable to identify the man’s face, leading to the debate on his under-appreciated status within the fandom. If it weren’t for Saburo, the story would have taken a different turn. Tanjiro could have become a demon’s prey and the story we cherish today would not have existed.
Despite being the sole survivor of the brutal attack on his family, Tanjiro is motivated to join the Demon Slayer Corps. His beloved sister, Nezuko, has been transformed into a demon and he is determined to find a way to reverse her condition. In order to do so, he must participate in the ongoing battle against all demonic beings.
Saburo initiated all of that. He is the complete opposite of Muzan, a common individual whose nurturing and compassionate nature preserves the brightness in a world that is frequently consumed by darkness. Without revealing too much, he may reappear towards the conclusion of Demon Slayer, but that is reserved for another storyline.
