Demon Slayer Fans Express Discontent with Muzan’s Latest Appearance

The long-awaited moment of Muzan’s appearance at Ubuyashiki’s doorstep finally arrives in Demon Slayer Season 4 Episode 7. However, to the disappointment of many fans, the scene did not live up to their expectations.

As the Hashira Training Arc draws to a close, the fourth season of Demon Slayer is also coming to an end. However, the calm before the storm is just a precursor to the upcoming battles against the Upper Moons and Muzan Kibutsuji for the demon slayers. The final confrontation will be split into two parts: the Infinity Castle Arc and the Sunrise Countdown Arc.

The extended episode showcases Gyomei’s backstory and Muzan’s unexpected arrival at the Ubuyakishi household. As a result, the Hashira Training Arc concludes, leading into the Infinity Castle Arc and concluding the season with a dramatic cliffhanger.

The anime adaptation of this arc, being the shortest in the manga, incorporates scenes from the light novel to extend the storyline. Additionally, the studio has noticeably reduced the pacing. While in the Demon Slayer manga, Muzan abruptly appears at Ubuyashiki’s doorstep, the anime shows him walking for over three minutes.

Despite being the ultimate antagonist, Muzan is not the most beloved villain among fans and is not held in as high regard as the Upper Moons. Ufotable puts great effort into making him appear impressive, but this often garners negative reactions, with only a minority of the fandom truly admiring it.

A tweet by a fan reads, “It seems like Ufotable is using Sapphire Shake presets during post-production.”

“According to another, Ufotable’s goal is to boost Muzan’s aura points in order to prevent him from being overshadowed by the upper moons.”

Additionally, various animators are collaborating on creating scenes accompanied by a wide range of music. Here is a well-liked version:

“According to one fan, this edit is a refreshing change from the repetitive and unfunny Bollywood jokes.”

One person on Twitter shares, “The music definitely improved the scene. However, I feel like it would have been even better if it was shorter and didn’t drag on. Ufotable should take note and avoid the slow pacing used by Toei.”
