Demon Slayer Hashira Training: The Neglected Hashira

The opening training sequence for Demon Slayer’s Hashira has sparked discussion among fans of the series. The theme song is a crucial component of any anime, and with the increasing popularity of J-Pop and J-Rock, fans have been exposed to a plethora of talented Japanese artists.

The Demon Slayer Hashira Training opening features a highly anticipated collaboration between MY FIRST STORY and HYDE, two of the most prominent names in the industry. Their performance has generated a frenzy among fans, who are raving about the soundtrack.

Additionally, the Demon Slayer Hashira Training opening has sparked conversations among fans for various other reasons. Despite featuring all the characters from the series in its animated video, the opening theme song animation appears to have overlooked one of the Hashiras – Gyomei Himejima.

Please be aware that the following article contains significant spoilers from the Demon Slayer manga chapters.

Viewers of the anime may be familiar with the Stone Hashira, known as the strongest of the Hashira in the series. His strength and combat abilities are unmatched by few in the history of the Demon Slayer Corps. However, Gyomei is only briefly shown in the opening of the Demon Slayer Hashira Training, receiving a mere few frames of screen time.

Despite other Hashiras such as Shinobu Kocho (Insect Hashira), Sanemi Shinazugawa (Wind Hashira), Giyu Tomioka (Water Hashira), and Obanai Iguro (Serpent Hashira) receiving more screen time and their own important scenes in the anime series, it was quite odd to see that the Stone Hashira did not receive the same treatment.

In the Hashira Training arc, Giyu Tomioka plays a crucial role as there is significant character development and his backstory is uncovered. However, Gyomei is also a significant character in the series. For anime-only fans, there is finally some insight into the background of the current strongest member of the Demon Slayer Corps. Additionally, the manga also reveals Gyomei’s past as a priest, providing readers with a better understanding of his journey to becoming a demon hunter.

Born blind and appearing frail, Gyomei was a compassionate priest who dedicated himself to caring for orphaned children. His strong sense of empathy was apparent in his previous life as a priest. However, when a demon infiltrated the temple grounds, Gyomei was forced to fight in order to protect the children. Tragically, despite his efforts, the children were lost as they had underestimated Gyomei Himejima’s fighting abilities.

Despite his frail appearance, Gyomei’s monstrous strength and perfectly nurtured abilities allowed him to physically defeat a demon for hours until sunrise. This makes him the strongest current-generation demon hunter in the series, and it is believed that the Demon Slayer Hashira Training opening should have included a short scene showcasing his backstory and strength, as they are major highlights in this story arc.
