Previews for season 4 of Demon Slayer have started in Japan, and the new episodes have received a massive reception in cinemas, to the point of breaking a new box office record.
This isn’t the first time Demon Slayer has set records. The franchise notably produced the most profitable feature film in Japan, with The Infinity Train. The animated film had in fact grossed a little more than 40 billion yen in Japanese theaters, added to the 500 million dollars in international revenue.
The anime always generates monstrous anticipation in each of its seasons. The story written by Koyoharu Gotōge and adapted by the excellent studio ufotable very quickly found its place in the hearts of spectators, always there to discover the continuation of the adventures of Tanjiro and his sister Nezuko.
Obviously, the fourth season had everything to perform. And without even having to release a feature film, contenting itself with a preview of its pilot, the series once again swept away everything in its path.
Demon Slayer season 4 tops the Japanese box office
In just over a week of operation in Japanese theaters, the premiere of season 4 of Demon Slayer grossed almost two billion yen according to Crunchyroll. It is therefore the fastest release to reach one million admissions in Japanese cinemas for the year 2024.
Since January 26, spectators have been able to attend a combination of two very special episodes: the finale of season 3, followed immediately by the opening of season 4. For the lucky ones, certain sessions were also held in presence of the team behind the anime.
If we remain far from the success of The Infinity Train, we must remember that these are only previews, for a single episode of a series which will then be broadcast weekly. A bonus, in short, for the most impatient fans. And good news: the Japanese will not be the only ones privileged!
In France, screenings of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – On the Road to Pillar Training are also planned in UGC group cinemas. If the session in the presence of the team was sold out very quickly after the places went on sale, other sessions are still open for reservation.
However, you should not miss the slot: see you on the weekend of February 24 and 25, 2024 to discover the first episode of season 4 of Demon Slayer on the big screen!
