Demon Slayer Season 4 Sparks Debate Among Fans Over One Character

The fourth season of Demon Slayer has recently premiered, prompting a range of reactions from fans. Some are expressing disappointment with a significant character, stating that their enjoyment of the show has been “ruined”. On the other hand, there are those who are defending this character and their role in the story.

Despite being praised for its lovable characters, Demon Slayer also has a few controversial heroes. Among them is Zenitsu, whose popularity within the fandom is highly debatable as he has both garnered love and stirred frustration.

The premiere of Season 4 of Demon Slayer continued the story from Season 3 and depicted the reunion of the Kamado siblings with Zenitsu and Inosuke. Although many of the reunion scenes were light-hearted and heartwarming, the encounter between Zenitsu and Nezuko left many fans feeling upset.

In the first episode, Zenitsu remained true to his usual self, being loud and expressive. However, upon meeting Nezuko for the first time since the events of the Swordsmith Village Arc, he became extremely excited and started screaming.

After becoming the first demon to withstand the sun, Nezuko regained her ability to speak. As soon as Zenitsu heard her speak for the first time, he eagerly caught her hands and asked if they could finally get married.

Despite some fans finding the scene in-character with Zenitsu’s usual antics and part of his charm, others were irritated by it. In fact, many went as far as to claim that the scene “ruined”their highly anticipated anime-watching experience.

A user on X commented, “It’s really annoying. I can’t understand why they have to exaggerate so much with him,”after viewing the first episode of Demon Slayer Season 4.

A different user also shared a similar opinion, stating, “I completely agree. I was thoroughly enjoying the episode until he appeared and ruined my mood. I have decided to fast forward through every scene he is in, except for the fight scenes.”

Despite many fans being upset about Zenitsu’s inclusion in the new season, there are also many who are defending the character.

A viewer commented on Zenitsu’s behavior in the debut episode of Season 4, explaining that he was a social outcast who had mainly interacted with his master throughout his life.

According to another fan, the final arc will alter one’s perception of the controversial character.

Zenitsu has a history of angering Demon Slayer fans, and this is not the first instance. In previous occasions, he has faced significant criticism for his exaggerated responses, boisterous tone, and overly friendly behavior towards women.

Despite all of this, his popularity as a character in Demon Slayer has remained consistent. In the initial Demon Slayer popularity ranking, he secured the second spot, closely following Tanjio. However, in the subsequent ranking, he surpassed the protagonist and claimed the top spot as the most favored character in the manga.

The first episode of Demon Slayer Season 4 is now available to watch on Crunchyroll. This season of the anime is based on the Hashira Training Arc from the manga.
