Demon Slayer’s Best Zenitsu Gag Could Be Explained by Real Life Medical Diagnosis

Zenitsu Agatsuma has gained a significant following in the Demon Slayer series in recent years due to his distinct personality and unconventional approach to demon hunting compared to other characters in the series.

Despite initially being despised by fans for his constant displays of cowardice, he later earned their respect by bravely confronting some of the most powerful demons in the series. This admiration was only further solidified in the final episode of the latest season, which left the entire fanbase in awe.

Despite his tendency to fight while unconscious, the demon hunter’s demeanor upon falling into the Infinity Castle was serious and fully alert. Some members of the fanbase have proposed a theory that he may have a medical condition.

Please be aware that this article may contain spoilers from the manga chapters.

Demon Slayer: Fan Theory on Zenitsu’s Possible Medical Condition

Theory Time! What if Zenitsu has split personality disorder? byu/Dry-Landscape-3942 inKimetsuNoYaiba

Despite being trained under the guidance of an excellent teacher, Jigoro Kuwajma, Zenitsu Agatsuma was always afraid of confrontation and fights. He detested every second of his training and forced himself to endure it, possibly causing some trauma. However, Jigoro had a lot of affection for Zenitsu and was lucky to have such a caring mentor.

A Reddit user (u/Dry-Landscape-3942) proposed a theory speculating that Zenitsu may have Split Personality Disorder. This theory is intriguing as it attempts to explain Zenitsu’s actions through a medical condition. One of the symptoms of this disorder is having two distinct personalities. Given the exaggerated nature of the shonen genre, it is difficult to determine if Zenitsu truly has this disorder.

It is worth mentioning that the fainting and subsequent shift to combativeness could be interpreted as a dissociative episode. There is a noticeable change in his demeanor when comparing his behavior prior to fainting and when his instincts kick in. In a matter of seconds, he transforms from a coward to a brave and focused individual.

Despite the intriguing nature of this theory, it is difficult to determine its validity without a comprehensive list of symptoms to analyze. The limited information available prevents us from reaching a definitive conclusion, and therefore, the theory remains unproven until the manga author addresses it. It is possible that Zenitsu could have Split Personality Disorder, but without further clarification, it is not appropriate to label his character as such.

It is possible that Zenitsu does not have a specific diagnosis of Split Personality Disorder, but rather experiences dissociative episodes only during combat situations. However, there was one instance when he fought against Kaigaku, an Upper Moon demon, without losing consciousness. We encourage the fanbase to await the manga artist’s perspective on this matter and determine if Zenitsu does indeed have this medical condition.
