At first, he was hesitant to accept the offer because he didn’t want to damage his image as a “man of immense strength.”However, Lee Kyung-kyu provided encouragement by saying, “If Kang Ho-dong fails in broadcasting, I will also step down.”This gave him the confidence to embark on his journey as an entertainer.
From the start of his entertainment career, Kang Ho-dong dazzled audiences with his one-of-a-kind humor, leaving a lasting impact. He spearheaded the success of numerous popular programs, including “Kang Ho-dong’s Soulmates” , “X-Man” , “Golden Fishery” , “2 Days & 1 Night” , “Strong Heart” , “Star King” , “New Journey to the West” , “Knowing Bros” , “Kang’s Kitchen” , and “Great Escape” .
In 2004, he went on a double date with Yoo Jae-suk, thanks to an arrangement made by an acquaintance. It was on this day that he met Lee Hyo-jin, who would become his fateful partner. Kang Ho-dong shared that the moment he laid eyes on her, he felt a strong desire to marry her. He was quite anxious and wanted to make a good impression, as he had fallen in love with her at first sight.
Yoo Jae-suk, being observant of the situation, took on the role of a “decoy” in order to assist them. As a result of Yoo Jae-suk’s persistent actions, Kang Ho-dong was able to ask her out once more and they went on their second date.
Despite their second date, Kang Ho-dong’s nerves got the best of him as he resorted to heavy drinking and even tried to kiss her. Lee Hyo-jin, disappointed by his unacceptable actions, firmly expressed her disappointment by telling him “I am truly disappointed. Please do not reach out to me again”before leaving.
Despite feeling devastated by his drunken mistake, Kang Ho-dong turned to Yoo Jae-suk for advice. Yoo Jae-suk suggested that Kang Ho-dong show his sincere feelings and stay in touch with Lee Hyo-jin. Eventually, Kang Ho-dong’s persistent and genuine affection won over Lee Hyo-jin and they entered into a serious relationship.
After confirming their feelings for one another, they shared their first kiss after 6 months of dating. Their relationship was characterized by mutual care and affection, and they continued to be happy together for a significant period of time.

Two years into their relationship, they tied the knot in November 2006 at the Shilla Hotel. The ceremony was officiated by Lee Kyung-kyu and hosted by Yoo Jae-suk. Just over two years later, they welcomed their son, Kang Si-hoo, who gained attention for making the switch from baseball to golf.
