Destiny 2 Community Outraged Over New Exotic Locked Behind Old Story Content

Many Destiny 2 fans are expressing anger at Bungie for locking the new Exotic weapon Choir of One behind a series of old story missions. This forces players who haven’t completed the missions to go back and finish them in order to obtain the weapon.

The third act of Destiny 2’s latest Echoes episode was recently released, bringing with it a fresh story and an exotic mission that has enticed numerous players to take part in hopes of obtaining new exotic loot.

Despite their speed, Guardians encountered numerous bugs and problems that occasionally caused their progress in the mission to come to a standstill.

Despite enduring the challenging task, some players were not even rewarded with the exotic weapon. Bungie later tweeted the explanation for this, causing even more frustration among those who had completed it.

Upon further investigation, it has been discovered that in order to receive rewards from the Encore: Overture mission, Guardians must first complete the entirety of Act One and Act Two. This decision has caused frustration among players, who believe that the announcement should have been made prior to the exotic mission’s release.

One player pointed out that this should have been mentioned before the act was released, and they were not trying to deceive anyone.

Another suggestion, from content creator FalloutPlays, was to make the mission “unlaunchable”until players had completed the previous acts. This would prevent any further disappointment for unsuspecting Guardians.

Fellow content creator Sweatcicle also criticized Bungie for making the exotic only obtainable through story missions, which he believes are not popular among players.

“Please stop preventing people from accessing the games and content they truly desire. It is frustrating to have to go through unimportant story elements just to reach the exotic mission or obtain a new weapon. After spending 35 minutes trying to reach it, it is disappointing to discover that I am unable to do so without completing Act 2.”

“Despite numerous complaints, the issue of gatekeeping loot seems to be ignored. I am exhausted from constantly being told how and when I should play,”another player chimed in, as seen on their tweet (https://x.com/RevenantD2/status/1828532905531887889).

Despite the damage that has already been done, Bungie has not yet indicated if they will lift the restrictions on the exotic mission. It may be too late for any changes to be made.
