As we navigate through an unusual phase in Destiny 2, players find themselves caught between the festive aftermath of The Dawning and a noticeable drop in engagement with Episode Revenant. Amidst concerns regarding the future viability of the franchise, there’s a peculiar twist as players express a desire for an extension of the holiday event.
The highly anticipated Act 3 is set to arrive on January 7, bringing closure to the second Episode before we gear up for the final Episode ahead of Heresy. In the meantime, the period between Christmas and New Year offers little in terms of new content, leading to a rare plea from the community for additional time with The Dawning.
Community Request for an Extra Week of The Dawning
Typically, the player base has favored quicker conclusions to seasonal events like The Dawning. However, the current sentiment contrasts sharply with past enthusiasm. As discussed in a recent thread on the Destiny subreddit, one player highlighted that the period between December 31 and January 6 is essentially a “dead week,” devoid of any scheduled content.
Bungie, is there any chance you can extend the Dawning one more week? byu/DeviantBoi inDestinyTheGame
“I could really use some more Bright Dust and some more boxes to open for the Zavala emblem,”they noted, advocating for the event’s continuation. They further elaborated, “Plus, I have like 800 [Dawning Spirit] that I’d like to use to focus some more weapons (instead of wasting boxes on getting the emblems).”
This plea resonated with numerous fans who viewed it as a potential “goodwill gesture” from Bungie. Others chimed in with various requests, one lamenting, “Please Bungie, let me make my stupid Sanguine Alchemy build,” as they sought an ideal Avalanche roll.
Some users have also pointed out that an earlier glitch granting the Event Pass for free inadvertently put players behind schedule, as Bungie subsequently blocked progress on it. Such circumstances have led to calls for an extension, allowing impacted players a fair chance to catch up.
Nevertheless, the community’s hopes for an extension may not materialize. With New Year’s Eve just around the corner and many Bungie team members still enjoying holiday leave, it seems unlikely that there will be any content updates or changes to the schedule next week.
Are you excited for Act 3 of Episode 2? If you’re nearing the end of your seasonal pass, consider holding off on claiming seasonal challenges until the new chapter begins to optimize your progress.
