Destiny 2 Community Urges Bungie to Revamp the Transmog System

Transmog is a feature in Destiny 2 that enables players to transform any armor into cosmetic items. However, its current design has led many players to call for a complete overhaul or a sunset of the system altogether.

This Transmog system was first launched in Season 14 and requires players to complete specific bounties. By finishing these tasks, you earn Synthcord, which can then be submitted at the Loom in the Tower to obtain Synthweave. To Transmog a single armor piece, you need one Synthweave, and a full set requires five.

Players can complete a maximum of 10 bounties per episode, limiting the number of cosmetics that can be created without spending money. While additional Transmog materials can be purchased from the Eververse Store, that involves spending Silver.

Many in the community have expressed their frustration on the Destiny subreddit. One player pointed out, “Transmog should be free or cost in-game currency. There’s a ton of RPGs and ARPGs that do this already” , while another mentioned, “The Transmog system is ridiculous and overly convoluted.”

Some players are frustrated that Bungie has linked Transmog to Silver, with one stating, “I have so many armors I want to turn into ornaments. Still not spending silver on them though.” On the other hand, some community members are content with the existing setup but would prefer an increase to “15 per episode” to reduce the constraints.

Fashion is crucial in Destiny 2, yet some players feel they “never have enough synth to unlock” everything, leading to a reluctance to engage with a particular character. Given that transmog only applies to individual armor and each class possesses unique armor, the existing limitations hinder the ability to unlock cosmetics across all three classes.

There is significant potential for enhancing the Transmog system, especially since other games like Monster Hunter allow players to change character appearances without additional grind. For instance, in Monster Hunter World, players earn materials for layered armor (Transmog) merely through defeating monsters and completing events.

Despite the evident demand for improvements, Bungie has not made any alterations to the Transmog system since its inception and currently shows no signs of change. Should player demands result in system updates, we will provide the latest information.
