Concerns among Destiny 2 players have resurfaced regarding the uneven distribution of specific weapon perk combinations. Players are increasingly vocal about their experiences, especially in light of findings from October 2024, when it was established that certain perks were rarer than players expected.
After extensive discussions and investigations, Bungie acknowledged that an unintended bug was causing these inconsistencies. They clarified that there are no intentional mechanics in place to decrease the likelihood of certain perks appearing on weapons. Fortunately, the issue has since been rectified.
As a gesture of goodwill towards players who had dedicated time to searching for these elusive rolls, Bungie provided several highly sought-after “god rolls”for free via the character Banshee-44, the Gunsmith in the game.
Recurring Drop Rate Concerns
Recently, a user on Reddit conducted a detailed analysis of 104 Adept Rake Angle Glaive drops obtained from the Birthplace of the Vile Strike. This Strike was part of Destiny 2’s Grandmaster rotation until its reset on January 7, having replaced Liminality a week earlier due to persistent Guitar errors.

The Reddit poster admitted that their data sample was “relatively small,” making it challenging to reach solid conclusions. However, they pointed out that the occurrence of the Chill Clip perk on Rake Angle appeared to be less frequent, which could imply it is less favored in the drop rates.
They further stated, “While the data doesn’t definitively prove weighting, the uneven distribution of combinations strongly suggests that some perks and combinations are more favored than others.” This observation has sparked discussions among other players who chimed in to share their experiences, with many claiming to have had multiple drops with Chill Clip, suggesting the original poster might have encountered a streak of bad luck.
Despite the inconclusiveness of this case, player frustration regarding the game’s ongoing technical challenges is escalating, and it is likely to remain a significant topic within the community as we move into 2025.
