
Recent player confusion has been addressed by Bungie, the creators behind Destiny 2, acknowledging that the lack of healing in the newly introduced Nether activity is, in fact, a bug.
With the launch of Episode Heresy, players were introduced to The Nether, an engaging roguelite experience set within the Dreadnaught. As the first fully-fledged roguelite addition to Destiny 2, The Nether incorporates randomized boons alongside limited healing mechanics.
Players quickly discovered that their Guardians could not regenerate health during this activity. While defeating enemies might yield health orbs, gamers soon noted that the expected sources of healing were underperforming compared to what was anticipated.
This led to considerable confusion in the community, especially since Bungie’s team had previously indicated that players would have opportunities to “spec into healing builds.” Currently, that expectation has not been met, but there is an explanation for these discrepancies.
Fixes on the Horizon for Nether Healing Issues
Shortly after the release of Episode Heresy and a surge of inquiries from players, Bungie confirmed that the healing mechanics in The Nether were not operating as intended. This was communicated through various social media outlets.
In their official statement, the Destiny 2 development team stated, “Currently, healing-centric builds and options (such as Weapon perks, Exotics, and Abilities) are not functioning as we designed them.”
They continued by highlighting, “We recognize that players are having difficulty observing or experiencing healing benefits, especially with Guardian health boosted by 200%.Although the health bar displays three times the regular health values, the effectiveness of healing feels minimal and sluggish.”

Bungie indicated that they have already begun work on a balance adjustment, aiming for a patch release “as early as next week.” However, a specific date for this fix has yet to be announced.
While the Destiny 2 community awaits a resolution for the Nether activity’s healing problems, there remains much to discover in Heresy Act 1. A collection of powerful new weapons has already altered the gameplay dynamics. Additionally, players can look forward to the Sundered Doctrine dungeon, set to release on February 7, providing Guardians the chance to re-explore Rhulk’s Pyramid Ship in Savathun’s Throne World.
