Destiny 2 Developers Reassure Guardians: Franchise is Alive and Kicking, Just Getting Started

Bungie, the developers of Destiny 2, have reassured fans that the franchise is far from dead. In fact, they believe that the game is just getting started as it approaches its 10th anniversary.

Being a fan of Destiny 2 during this time is challenging. Bungie recently experienced major layoffs and there have been reports of reduced content and the cancellation of the spin-off game known as Payback. The announcement of a potential mobile title has left Guardians worried about the fate of the series.

During this time, developers have maintained regular communication with the player base regarding the unexpected changes and have also organized in-game events to uplift the community’s morale.

In a blog post dated September 5 on the website of Bungie, the developers reiterated their stance, stating that the game franchise is not dead and is, in fact, “just beginning”. They have promptly reassured players that Destiny is here to stay.

The Destiny 2 devs promise that they’re “just getting started” with the franchise.

The developers disclosed their plans for the franchise, which include a “Brief Dev Insight”blog post outlining their objectives for the future of Destiny. Game director Tyson Green and narrative director Alison Lührs will lead Guardians through this blog.

This also aligns with the launch of Destiny 2: Codename Frontiers and marks Destiny’s 10th anniversary as a franchise, potentially marking a pivotal moment for the series as we embark on uncharted territory.

Despite this, the individuals in charge of steering the ship are ensuring players that the upcoming blog will only mark the beginning of their dedication to continued communication with the player community.

“Our development team has announced that they will be regularly providing updates on what’s to come for Destiny 2, including information on its systems and future plans. These updates may be a bit rough in their early stages, but we are eager to share our goals and progress with you.”

Bungie’s primary focus moving forward is to release concise, targeted updates for players that will outline the future plans for the franchise.

“We would like to express our gratitude to everyone who has been a part of our ten-year journey. As we have mentioned before, we are only beginning and this statement still holds true. While the Light and Dark saga may have concluded, the destiny of our game continues to evolve.”
