Following a series of mass layoffs, Bungie, the developers of Destiny 2, have taken to social media to address their future plans for the franchise.
Bungie’s popular game, Destiny 2, is currently at a crucial point. The release of The Final Shape served as a reminder to fans of why they fell in love with the game and left them eagerly anticipating the developer’s future plans for the series.
Despite the positive reception of the latest content release, Bungie revealed plans to lay off 220 employees, which accounts for approximately 17% of the studio’s workforce. This, coupled with leaked information about significant downgrades to future content drops in Destiny 2, caused players to express concern and consider abandoning the franchise entirely.
Currently, the remaining developers have stepped up on X (previously known as Twitter) to acknowledge and address concerns regarding the long-term sustainability of Destiny 2 and discuss the future direction of the franchise.

The developers also mentioned their intentions to discuss the future of Destiny and will be revealing their ideas for their upcoming “multi-year journey”in the near future.
