Destiny 2 Developers Unintentionally Confirm Return of Iconic D1 Exotic Ice Breaker

Destiny 2 developers Bungie recently made a slip by inadvertently disclosing their intention to reintroduce the legendary Destiny 1 sniper rifle exotic, Icebreaker.

In celebration of Destiny’s 10th Anniversary, Bungie is hosting a series of exciting events both in-game and beyond. This celebration includes a wealth of new information about the franchise’s future and the developers’ ongoing plans. To mark this special occasion, players can currently claim free armor as part of the festivities.

The 10th Anniversary also introduced iconic weapons in Nerf form, with both the Gjallarhorn and the Ace of Spades becoming prominent collectibles. Players who manage to unlock the new limited-time Legend Title before Episode: Echoes concludes will have the chance to purchase these collectibles early, which will also include a unique in-game ornament.

However, Ace of Spades isn’t the only legendary exotic weapon gaining attention during the 10th Anniversary event. It appears that Destiny 2 may have unintentionally confirmed Icebreaker’s return to the game.

This is evident in the key art where the highlighted Guardian is seen wielding the weapon, instantly recognizable to any Destiny 1 veteran.

The Ice Breaker was a unique exotic sniper rifle in Destiny 1, famous for its self-replenishing ammunition and the ability to return spent ammo directly to the magazine, as well as causing slain enemies to explode.

Destiny 2 featured a similar weapon known as the Revoker, which could return ammo if a shot was missed. However, the original Icebreaker is set to make a comeback as part of the 10th Anniversary celebrations.

Global community lead dmg04 has indicated that the sniper rifle will be available as a reward from the new dungeon, likely serving as a rare exotic drop for its completion.
