The upcoming release of the third Act for Destiny 2’s Echoes on August 27 will provide Guardians with three additional weapons to pursue perfect rolls for.
Among the options is Speleologist, a Machine Gun that boasts excellent PvE perk combinations and is expected to become an essential choice for Solar loadouts. Like other Vex-inspired weapons, players will have the chance to acquire random-rolled and Red Border Speleologists from Echoes activities once the update is implemented.
Best Speleologist Build for PvE
- Barrel: Arrowhead Brake
- Magazine: Tactical Mag or Flared Magwell
- Perk 1: Stats for all or Envious Assassin
- Perk 2: Incandescent or Killing Tally
- Masterwork: Reload Speed
Similar to other Machine Guns, Reload Speed is the main stat that should be prioritized for Speleologist. Without any perks, it takes nearly five seconds to reload, which is considered slow compared to the standard in Destiny.
Both the Tactical Mag and Flared Magwell provide a boost to this, with the latter offering an even higher +15 to the stat, in addition to +5 Stability. On the other hand, Tactical Mag offers the same increase in Stability but slightly less Reload Speed, compensating with an extra seven rounds in the magazine.
Using Killing Tally is ideal if your goal is to create large magazines, while Incandescent is the recommended choice for any Solar builds due to its clear synergy. Similarly, Reload Speed is the necessary Masterwork selection, although Stability is also a viable option for a Rapid Fire Frame.
Martyr’s Retribution will also be reprised in Echoes Act 3.
On August 27, two new weapons, Chronology and Martyr’s Retribution, will be added to the loot pool alongside Speleologist. Chronology is a Void Trace Rifle that comes with Destabilizing Rounds, while Martyr’s Retribution is a reprised Wave Frame Grenade Launcher from Season of Dawn. The latter is highly sought after for its healing abilities, making it a must-have for PvE activities. We have previously discussed the ideal roll to aim for when obtaining this weapon.
