Exciting changes are on the horizon for the PvP arenas of Destiny 2 as Episode Heresy approaches. A notable adjustment will be the reintroduction of the one-week schedule for Iron Banner, a move that is set to address concerns from players regarding its previous two-week format.
With the impending launch of The Final Shape in June 2024, Bungie had initially extended the Iron Banner event from its traditional one-week duration to two weeks. This decision aimed to give Guardians more time to accomplish event-specific objectives. However, it inadvertently led to some complications, particularly affecting the availability of the Trials of Osiris.
Return to One-Week Iron Banner Events
As Episode Heresy launches on February 4, Iron Banner will revert back to its original one-week format. This decision follows feedback from the community, including a tweet expressing disbelief over the two-week duration. Bungie addressed this concern in a post on January 10, stating, “Going back to one week runs next episode.”

While many players welcomed the return to a shorter event duration, a segment of the community expressed disappointment. One player remarked that the two-week format was beneficial for those who could not commit to playing daily to achieve specific goals, such as securing titles and gilding. Another voice echoed this sentiment, noting that the extended timeframe allowed for better management of reputation bonuses tied to the game.
Moreover, during its last occurrence from November 26 to December 10, Iron Banner featured Destiny 2’s inaugural Stasis-element Rocket Sidearm, Tinasha’s Mastery. This introduction, however, raised concerns about the high Glimmer cost associated with obtaining coveted weapon rolls, spotlighting discrepancies in the game’s economic balance that players hope will be addressed when the event returns on January 14.
For those eager to delve into the competitive space, Trials of Osiris offers a fantastic opportunity with its current loot pool. Guardians interested in exploring the thrilling 3v3 mode will find ample rewards to pursue this week.
