The recent update 8.0.5 greatly improved Aggressive Scout Rifles, making them even more popular among players. This has also elevated a beloved cowboy Exotic into one of the top primary weapons in Destiny 2 for taking down Minor enemies.
On August 6, 2024, Destiny’s most recent significant update included a 30% damage increase for Aggressive Scout Rifles in all PvE activities. This adjustment applies to all types of enemies, from basic to boss, and is applicable to all weapons in the same category, such as Dead Man’s Tale.
Furthermore, as an Exotic weapon, DMT also receives a 40% damage increase against minor combatants. When combined with the universal buff, its total damage against red bars in dungeon-level content is now 19,608. This damage is further boosted by 25% when Cranial Spike is activated, resulting in primary-level DPS for Special ammo.
Additionally, the Exotic Scout Rifle has an increased fire rate of 140 RPM when fired from the hip, resulting in a 16% boost to DPS. This makes it a great option for continuously firing shots at enemies with bigger critical spots, such as Ogres and Shriekers. This tactic can also be effective against specific Champions, as demonstrated by the Unstoppable Scout Rifle featured in the Echoes’ artifact.

To obtain Dead Man’s Tale, it is necessary to unlock the weapon’s blueprint beforehand. This can be achieved by completing Presage during its rotation in the Exotic Mission Rotator. The next opportunity to complete Presage will be on September 17 and it will continue to be available until the weekly reset on September 24.
To obtain the catalyst, completing at least one run of Presage on Expert difficulty is necessary. This mission can be challenging as it has a timer, so it is advisable to tackle it with a full fireteam. Nevertheless, seasoned players may be able to solo the activity with practice.
