The release of a new Grandmaster Nightfall in Destiny 2 this week has been met with enthusiasm by Guardians, who are impressed by the creative updates implemented by Bungie.
Liminality made its highly anticipated debut as the first new GM of Echoes Act 2 on the Weekly Reset for July 23. Originally featured as a mission for The Final Shape, the strike has undergone significant changes to increase its level of difficulty.
The main alterations consist of the addition of a traversal section, increased mechanics in the Taken Essence room, and some enemies being upgraded to Lightbearers. These changes are in addition to the typical presence of extra champions and tougher enemies that are to be expected in any GM activity.
These changes have been noticed by the community, who have praised Bungie for their excellent work. One post on r/DestinyTheGame stated, “It’s really refreshing to see the Liminality GM with slightly different mechanics. Great job, Bungie.”
The user went on to say, “I have been eagerly anticipating this GM since I first heard about it, and Bungie did not disappoint. Not only is it genuinely challenging (without any glitches), but it is also the first GM to introduce obstacles beyond champions and the usual boring modifiers.”

This viewpoint garnered a positive response, as another player expressed, “The GM is doing a great job, and I appreciate their efforts in implementing substantial changes rather than just constantly promoting champions.”
Some also praised how it provided a perfect level of difficulty, stating, “It’s challenging without being overly frustrating like the Moon Battleground,”and adding, “Overall, I found it to be more chaotic than difficult, but in a good way.”
There are numerous options available for those who wish to tackle Liminality. The new GM may find Exotics such as Getaway Artist, Orpheus Rig, and Hazardous Propulsion to be particularly popular, but any meta build with sufficient sustainability can be successful.
Despite the trend seen in The Final Shape, both Hunter and Warlock builds continue to dominate in this recent activity. While Titan players can still complete Liminality, they may face more challenges until the community’s calls for Titan buffs are addressed.
